If you’re looking to make a career with Expedia, the world’s biggest travel tech company, then prepping beforehand is essential as it can open-up a world of opportunities for you. But it comes with a barrage of questions that you must answer smartly to show you are truly aligned to their vision.

Now that your resume has got you the interview and you are ready to enter the special club of people who land interviews with Expedia. The interview itself is an experience of a lifetime. This is where we help you with HR questions that might otherwise stump you.

1. Tell me some difficulties you faced while working on a project and how you overcame them.

Difficulties can be difficulties, or they can be challenges. Interviewers at Expedia want to know if you enjoy a good challenge and rise to the occasion. Give them a story you enjoy telling. We get it, not everyone is a master story-teller, but make sure the problem is grave enough and the solution simple enough, or the outcome phenomenal enough.

2. What do you know about Expedia?

You’d be able to answer this question easily even if you’ve just looked at their group website here. It’s thorough, updated regularly, and covers the entire ecosystem of the workplace from the virtual floor to news, products, and financials. Go through it with a fine-toothed comb and familiarise yourself with every aspect.

3. On a scale of one to ten, rate me as an interviewer.

Is this a trick question? Yes, it is. Are you going to be tricked? Not if you answer diplomatically! While this may not fall into the commonly asked questions, it’s definitely one meant to confuse you. Whether for genuine feedback or just to gauge your reaction, acknowledge that your interviewer is more experienced, knows better and more than you. However, you must answer without sounding arrogant.

4. If you have to attend a meeting related to your work as well as you have to work for the client, how will you manage the situation?

This one’s a plain test of your time management skills. They want to know how mindful you are about your duties as well as your time. Being a perfectionist is great, but at Expedia, there are multiple things happening at once and being on top of them would make you perfect for them. Show that you are thorough and meticulous, but not so stubborn and steadfast that you wouldn’t end up prioritising multiple tasks if the need arises.

5. Why Expedia?

Expedia has a whole page dedicated to this question. All you need to do is look at the masthead and there it is, for your taking. Connect your own dreams with nay of the aspects and you have a winning answer!

6. Why should we hire you?

In a nutshell, Expedia Group’s website says it all: “We want you for you. Not the future you, or the after-training you. We want the passionate and ambitious you of today, what you can bring to the table right now. And of course, we can’t wait to meet the future you too. Once you’re here, you’ll discover a world of passionate people who work as One Team and use technology to improve the travel experience for millions of travelers across the world.”
