Job Purpose
BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.
This role is responsible for
- Management of the aircraft maintenance programmes.
- Management of the requirements of the HPO1, HPO2 PE1 servicing schedule, unscheduled maintenance, Modification Embodiment, TCTOs, SI's, and System testing.
- Management and supervision of aircraft team of Technicians.
- May be required to provide support to the RSAF away from TMSC.
- May be required to work and supervise outside normal trade boundary.
- Point of contact for all issues aside from aircraft within his given phases of work.
Job Accountabilities- Takes all necessary actions to ensure the aircraft remains on schedule as defined in the aircraft project plan. These actions are not limited to but are to include:
- Monitoring the planned maintenance activities of the aircraft.
- Monitoring access given to all trades.
- Monitoring spares demands, required by dates, forecast delivery dates.
- Monitoring the individual aircraft team member's performance.
- Request additional resources to boost productivity when these are available.
- First Stage/Mandatory and Independent certification of completed tasks carried out by the Maintenance Team Technicians when required to do so, including Red-X clearance.
- Monitors and provides daily updates of aircraft's progress against the programme; these updates are verbal or via the agreed IT based application.
- Highlights to the Aircraft Maintenance Lead, issues likely to impact the aircraft programme.
- Ensures timely and accurate information is supplied when submitting a Technical Query.
- Accurate estimates of additional work content and hours.
- Takes action to address poor performance and disciplinary matters.
- Provides overall effective management of the Aircraft Teams in line with the TMSC's current business objectives.
- Has responsibility, as far as is considered fair and practicable, for ensuring the personnel he is supervising have the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out the task in hand and that the task is completed I.A.W. RSAF TOs/publications, TMSC Quality system process and M&CA mandates.
- Ensures that all renewable certifications for all technicians in the phases within their control are carried out in a timely manner.
- Provides sufficient direct supervision of personnel to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Investigates and provides reports on technical issues and accident/incident events.
- Ensures effective house keeping programme is maintained throughout the phases within their working area.
- Prepares for and co-operates with internal/external audits.
- Ensures that sound maintenance practices and documentation procedures are followed at all times.
- Before delegating any task, ensures all personnel are authorised/certified to accomplish the task.
- Provides on-the-job theory and practical training.
- Promotes the personal development of himself and others.
- Assesses the competency of team personnel and informs the Aircraft Maintenance Lead of any deficiencies.
- Certifies personnel for specific tasks when certified as a Work Place Trainer.
- Ensures accurate demands for replacement components/parts are placed as soon as possible.
- Ensures the required by and impact dates for demands are accurately recorded.
- Monitors the forecast date for demands and in liaison with the Supervisors, places on the critical list any that are likely to impact the programme.
- Highlights to the Aircraft Maintenance Lead demands likely to impact the aircraft programme.
- Ascertains whether serviceable and calibrated test equipment is available for the planned tasks, and if not informs the Aircraft Maintenance Lead.
- Deputises, if required, for the Aircraft Maintenance Lead.
- Establishes and maintains positive relations with the TMSC's internal and external customers.
- Has and promotes understanding of the commercial issues related to the TMSC within the Team.
- Ensure accurate information flow is maintained to and from their designated area of responsibility.
- Provide technical reports on aircraft status for the daily maintenance meeting and initial investigations into incidents, deficiencies and damage.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Qualifications: National civilian / military equivalent recognised aircraft maintenance traineeship / apprenticeship
- Extensive prove experience in trade.
- Extensive proven experience on Tornado airframe/electrical systems.
- Extensive proven experience in a suitable supervisory/management position.
- Working knowledge of Q-pulse, DMS and thorough understanding of M&CA mandates and processes.
- Possess a current UK/Saudi Driver's Licence.
- Ability to tow aircraft and supervise aircraft towing team.
- Must have an understanding and application of human factors, error management, health & safety and proactive hazard analysis, appropriate to the role.
- Must hold a current driving licence.
- Computer literate with an understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable
- Completion of a recognised supervisory management course.
- Experience of deep aircraft maintenance, preferably Tornado.
- Experience of RSAF documentation and procedures.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Understanding of the RSAF 4-1-7166 series and supporting technical publications applicable to their work area.
- An understanding of the RSAF Operation and working practices.
