Job Description

UPM is looking for a Saudi of the highest caliber to fill the vacancy of Al Lab Engineer, Faculty for College of Computer and Cyber Sciences

Functional Description:

The Al Lab Engineer specialized on ( LLM and Robotics ) is responsible for supporting and advancing our projects on large language models (LLM) for university applications and robotics systems. This role combines expertise in LLM technologies with a strong background in robotics, requiring the employee to develop solutions for academic environments, facilitate robotics-based projects, and ensure effective integration of AI-driven systems across various platforms.

The ideal candidate will manage LLM deployments tailored for university needs, oversee robotics applications, and collaborate with teams to enhance AI integration for learning, research, and operational efficiencies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

LLM Development and Customization

  • Develop and optimize large language models for use in academic settings, ensuring adaptability to various university functions, such as student support, administrative tasks, and research aid.
  • Collaborate with faculty and university stakeholders to define LLM application requirements, implementing NLP capabilities that meet their specific needs.
  • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality in line with institutional policies for LLM deployment.

Robotics Project Management

  • Lead and manage general robotics projects, coordinating design, development, and testing phases to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Work with robotics engineers to implement autonomous functionalities, enhance operational efficiency, and develop innovative solutions for university or commercial applications.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for robotics systems, ensuring consistent and reliable performance.

AI Integration and Innovation

  • Facilitate integration between LLMs and robotics systems to develop seamless, AI-driven solutions, especially for research or academic environments.
  • Conduct ongoing research to identify and leverage emerging technologies that enhance LLM and robotics applications, focusing on user engagement and operational outcomes.

Collaboration and Training

  • Offer guidance and training sessions to university staff, researchers, and students on using LLMs and robotics systems effectively.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support project requirements, providing insights into LLM and robotics usage, maintenance, and optimization.

Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

  • Track system performance, collect feedback from users, and continuously refine LLM and robotics applications to meet evolving needs.
  • Implement data analytics and machine learning techniques to improve AI accuracy, response times, and overall efficiency.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, AI, or a related field, advanced degrees or certifications in AI, Machine Learning, or Robotics are a plus.
  • Proven experience with large language models (LLM), natural language processing (NLP), and robotics systems.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex AI and robotics systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and an aptitude for working with academic teams.
  • Knowledge of university administrative workflows and academic applications of AI.

  • Experience in data privacy and security protocols for educational environments.
