The role involves supporting the catering manager in ensuring that food services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Assist in overseeing the preparation and delivery of meals, ensuring that food is prepared to the highest quality standards.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to manage meal schedules and ensure timely service.
Monitor food storage, inventory, and supply levels, ensuring all necessary ingredients and supplies are available.- Assist in supervising kitchen and catering staff, including cooks, servers, and cleaners.
Ensure that staff adhere to safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
- Interact with clients to understand their catering needs and preferences.
Address any customer complaints or concerns promptly and professionally.- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and food preparation.
Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen and dining areas to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
- Implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Assist in managing the catering budget, including food, labour, and other operational expenses.- Help negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices for ingredients and supplies.
Monitor and control waste to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Support planning and developing menus that meet client specifications and dietary requirements.
Ensure that all meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and visually appealing.- Conduct taste tests and quality checks to maintain high food standards.
Assist with ordering supplies, managing invoices, and maintaining food and labour cost records.
- Prepare reports on catering activities, including performance metrics and customer feedback.
- Key skills and qualifications:
Experience in Catering or Food Service Management: Prior experience in the food service industry, particularly in a large-scale or industrial setting, is essential.
- Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills are needed to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
