We are looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join the Middle East Finance Operations Team to assist the team in delivering financial accounting and reporting requirements including, but not limited to, internal and external reporting, IFRS compliance, monthend processes and reporting etc for the Middle East & Africa region. The Assistant Financial Accountant will report to a Financial Accountant.
Middle East Finance Operations team is responsible for managing the technical accounting, transactional processing and statutory and tax compliance for all AtkinsRealis companies operating in the Middle East & Africa region, ensuring all internal and external reporting deadlines are met. The team also ensures compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures and maintains and evaluates internal control which govern the core financial processes.
Responsibilities
Prepare and post financial accounting entries, recharges, reports and other relevant reconciliations on a periodic basis and assist with month-ends
Assist in coordination and preparation of various returns, including financial statements and tax returns, for a number of legal entities, under the supervision and guidance
Preparation of statutory compliance returns, including ICV and Local Content certifications
Preparation of monthly and quarterly VAT and WHT returns for assigned statutory entities
Preparation of periodical reports and reconciliations to be submitted to the business
Supporting the Finance team on ad-hoc initiatives and analysis
Ensuring compliance with Finance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Assisting the wider Finance team with internal and external audits
Develop strong working relationships with team members and other key stakeholders

Technical Competencies
Essential
A recognised degree in finance, accounting or related subjects
0-2 years experience within a finance/accounting environment
Competent accountant with good understanding of double entry and best practices
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication in English (both written and oral).
Experience of working within a multi-cultural environment
Ability to develop strong working relationships and communicate effectively at all levels.
Desirable
Some Big 4 experience as an assistant/associate or above (PwC/EY/KPMG/Deloitte)
Working knowledge of JD Edwards, Hyperion Finance Management (HFM), Smart View or other information systems and databases
