Role: Assistant Manager Indirect Tax
Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
The role revolves around Indirect Tax in the UAE region and would broadly involve the following responsibilities:
Become the focal point of contact for the clients and manage tasks assigned including;
- Conducting and managing VAT Health Checks for clients across various industries
- Regular monthly, quarterly - compliances to be carried out without any delays [such as VAT returns reviews]
- Responsible for maintaining the backup data i.e., VAT return workings in FAF, about all tax compliances
- Preparing and reviewing advisories, memos, health check reports, technical clarifications etc.
- Liaise with the FTA for queries related to audits and refunds, preparation/review clarifications and reconsideration requests as and when the need arises
- Keeping the clients abreast with opportunities, working closely with each by being the prime point of contact by imparting support and providing sound advisory services on a diverse variety of business matters
- Providing ad-hoc advice to clients
- Experience in handling litigation with FTA/TDRC such as filing of reconsideration applications, penalty waiver requests, requests to TDRC, etc.
- Complete knowledge of the functionalities of FTA Portal along with experience in tasks such as VAT registration amendment, filing technical clarification, voluntary disclosure, etc.
- Providing comprehensive training to the client for all tax laws, updates, and related implications
- Continuously updating oneself and the team with the changing tax regime of the UAE
- Analysis and preparation of ESR notification and report and conducting discussion meetings with clients
- Reviewing tasks performed by a team of Senior and Junior Associates and Assistant Managers to ensure communication with all clients
- Review of proposals and engagement letters to be shared with clients/prospective clients
- Passion for business development and a knack for cross-selling to current & and prospective clients
- Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct whilst working with the team and clients
- Ensure regular updates and articles from the team are shared to be published on the company's digital platforms
- Responsible for overall team's deliverables and performance
- Regular monitoring of tasks and assignments to provide track updates to senior management
Job Requirements for the role
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in VAT laws, regulations, procedures, and compliance in the UAE
- Up to date with the knowledge of VAT laws, regulations, procedures, guides, and public clarifications in the UAE
- Experience in managing people and generating productive results from a team
- Must have one of the following certifications ACCA/CA/CPA/Law
- Knowledge of the European Tax System is an advantage
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Effective & and efficient utilization of resources to ensure maximum billability & and profitable assignments
- A UAE driving license is a plus
