Job Description

Job Purpose

As a Utilities Mechanical Assistant Manager in an automotive industry, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining various systems crucial to the facility's operation such as HVAC systems, boilers, compressors, chillers, and firefighting systems.

This role requires to ensure the optimal design, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems critical to the production processes. This includes maximizing system efficiency, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. By overseeing the design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, the Utilities Mechanical Engineer plays a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the automotive factory, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting a safe working environment for all employees.

The job is involving supervising a team of engineers and technicians, coordinating maintenance schedules, troubleshooting issues, conducting regular inspections, and implementing safety measures in line with regulations.

This role requires strong background in mechanical engineering, proficiency in relevant software tools, excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks, and effective communication with team members and other departments.

Key Functional Responsibilities

  • Design and Engineering: Develop and design mechanical systems tailored to automotive manufacturing needs, ensuring they meet performance and efficiency requirements.
  • Maintenance and Optimization: Implement preventive maintenance programs, optimize mechanical systems for peak performance, and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
  • Energy Efficiency: Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency within mechanical systems and implement sustainable practices to reduce energy consumption.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all mechanical systems adhere to relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Project Management: Oversee projects related to mechanical system installations, upgrades, or modifications, coordinating with different departments and stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical system issues promptly to maintain continuous production operations and prevent disruptions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, document maintenance activities, prepare technical reports, and communicate effectively with team members and management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as production, maintenance, and safety departments, to address mechanical-related concerns and ensure seamless factory operations.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in utility mechanical engineering within a utilities and manufacturing environment include at least 2 years in automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and HVAC systems. Ability to analyse and troubleshoot complex mechanical systems effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently, utilizing critical thinking, analytical skills, and practical problem-solving techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate technical information, lead meetings, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements and local laws, with the ability to ensure compliance and oversee audits in mechanical operations.
  • Proficiency in project management principles, with experience leading mechanical system projects, coordinating resources, managing timelines, and delivering successful outcomes.
