Job Purpose:

  • The position consists of managing the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the general ledger for multiple entities within RSG group.
  • This role oversees the preparation and maintenance of trial balances, ensuring alignment with IFRS standards and internal policies.
  • The role requires coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve timely and accurate financial reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of the general ledger for multiple entities, ensuring alignment with accounting policies and IFRS standards. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entry approvals, reconciliations, and review of trial balances. Ensure the integrity of financial statements by verifying that all entries, accruals, and adjustments are accurate and compliant with IFRS.

  • IFRS Compliance: Ensure adherence to IFRS standards across all ledger activities, staying current with updates and implementing necessary adjustments in accounting practices. Provide technical expertise, offering guidance to the team and other departments on complex accounting matters. Review contracts and significant transactions to determine appropriate accounting treatment and ensure IFRS compliance.

  • Financial Reporting: Review the trail balance and prepare management accounts for individual entities. Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing accurate financial data, explanations, and supporting documentation for audit reviews. Analyze trial balances and general ledger details for variances and accuracy, ensuring that reports reflect the financial position of each entity.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a team of GL accountants, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes learning, growth, and performance. Oversee team responsibilities, allocate tasks, and set performance goals to ensure efficient and accurate general ledger management.

  • Intercompany Reconciliation: Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations to ensure accurate recording and elimination of entries within the consolidated financials, ensuring consistency and accuracy across multiple entities in the holding company. Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate consolidation of financial data.

  • Process Improvement and Internal Controls: Design and implement efficient accounting processes, controls, and workflows to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and improve efficiency. Regularly assess existing processes, identifying opportunities for automation and standardization to enhance accuracy and reduce closing times. Maintain a strong internal control environment by developing and enforcing policies and procedures related to general ledger activities.

  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with reporting, tax, finance, and treasury departments to ensure alignment on financial data and reporting standards. Coordinate with subsidiaries and other entities within the holding company to standardize accounting practices and reporting formats. Provide insights and support to management on financial performance, key variances, and potential risks.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree or MBA).
  • Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a strong focus on general ledger management.
  • Knowledge of IFRS standards and their application, particularly in a multi-entity or consolidated accounting environment
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and understanding of consolidation modules.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of mentoring and developing accounting teams.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and present complex information clearly.
