Position Title: Associate Lab Maintenance Engineer
Job Summary:
The Associate Lab Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment and instruments. This role involves troubleshooting issues, conducting routine maintenance, and supporting the installation of new equipment to ensure that all machinery and devices are functioning in accordance with laboratory specifications. The Engineer will also monitor the consumables (e.g., carrier gas cylinders), and assist with the preparation of cost estimates for maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instrument Availability:
- Ensure that laboratory instruments and equipment are available and fully operational as per laboratory KPIs.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
- Investigate and diagnose equipment failures, operational difficulties, and malfunctions. Provide recommendations for corrective actions and repairs.
- Maintenance & Repair:
- Oversee the installation, operation, and repair of laboratory equipment, ensuring that machines are installed and functioning according to operational specifications.
- Cost Estimation:
- Estimate the costs associated with maintenance, machinery parts, and repairs. Prepare cost sheets and reports related to maintenance activities.
- Routine Maintenance:
- Perform necessary troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and repairs on laboratory equipment. Ensure all equipment is operating at peak performance.
- Annual Equipment Report:
- Prepare and present an annual report with recommendations for laboratory equipment upgrades or replacements.
- Preventive Maintenance (PM):
- Manage and ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules and activities for all laboratory equipment.
- Daily Checklist:
- Perform daily checklist activities for laboratory equipment as per designated area owner requirements.
- Gas Cylinder Management:
- Monitor the consumption and replacement of carrier gas cylinders and ensure that all related procedures are followed.
- Additional Duties:
- Undertake other job-related responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 0 to 3 years of experience in laboratory equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, or technical support.
