Overview
Under the supervision of the TMP Supervisor, performs the full range of field-level overhaul work on one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline, or multi-fuel.
Responsibilities
- Performs the full range of repair and modification work on heavy/light equipment and vehicles powered by internal combustion engines
- Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
- Accurately troubleshoots, isolates, and identify faults of equipment systems and subsystems
- Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices
- Repairs, relines, replaces, and adjusts
- Follows checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas
- Follows repair procedures, using charts, and technical manuals
- Tests and adjusts repaired systems to meet military performance specifications
- Performs routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups
- Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Provides oversight and supervision of automotive mechanics
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Apprenticeship in Light/Heavy Automobile Repair, Automotive Mechanic or similar preferred.
- Must have country of origin driver license.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operators License and Qatar Heavy Drivers License as required
- Experience:
- At minimum Five (5) years experience as an automotive maintenance mechanic. Training in small engine maintenance and repair preferred
- Skills & Technology Used:
- Must have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Familiar with the usage of computer based technical manuals preferred.
- The ability to troubleshoot, determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- English proficiency Reading & Speaking Level 2, Writing Level 1.
- Requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork.
- Must exercise discretion and good sound judgment.
- Capable of performing work while wearing personnel protective equipment.
- Must have leadership background
- Working Environment:
- Work is generally conducted in a shop environment; however, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions.
- Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, and Fire Regulations and published company work rules
