Job Description
The CIB Business Finance team comprises of individual functions globally supporting the following products: Global Corporate Finance, Transaction Banking, Global Markets along with the Coverage function. The unit falls under the Group Finance department and reports to the CFO, IB, CCB & International.
Key priorities of this role include:
- Acting as a trusted Finance advisor on business performance & strategic issues specific to the business
- Providing world class financial reporting & support services, adding value through providing professional, independent & objective financial advice, which assist in the achievement of business objectives whilst complying with Group policies and standards, and external statutory obligations.
- Production of financial & management accounting reporting statements for the functional area of responsibility in line with Group reporting standards, whilst maintaining a robust control environment.
The GCF Business Finance function(s) are responsible for all finance matters specific to the business including, but not limited to Performance, Control, Forecasting, Budgeting & Strategy. In addition, the function provides a key support role to other Group Finance functions Treasury, Central FP&A, Tax as well as Financial & Regulatory Reporting.

- Enhance value added business partnership to drive business performance.

- Preparation & development of best-in-class MIS reporting which meets the needs of Business, Department & Group.

- Participate in the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Products, Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Provide inputs for implementation of policies, new products, systems and procedures for the CIB Business Finance team so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Specific Accountability
- Contribute towards ensuring Finance act as a key business partner for Global Corporate Finance (GCF) and a trusted advisor on business performance and strategic issues, helping to drive the business forward.
- Provide key inputs where necessary on across business management forums MIS reviews as well as contribute towards value added commentary and insight specific to both GCF & other CIB products where necessary.
- Contribute towards the development & rollout of Customer/Segment MIS to support CIB & International
- Comprehensive P&L analysis including detailed analysis and interpretation of daily, weekly & monthly performance of GCF Business.
- Key business finance contact for all International Coverage & GCF queries, leading discussions, as appropriate, with both the business as well as relevant enablement functions.
- Provide relevant support to VP, Business Finance, GCF & Coverage, ensuring all business transacted is compliant, safe, and sustainable.
- Managing the day to day and month end controls of P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliation, substantiation and reporting for GCF
- Manage GCF Account Ownership Verification (AOV) monthly process. Ensure review and submission in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manage Audit (Internal / External) related activities and provide supporting details for all requirements raised.
- Contribute towards the preparation of ADNL subsidiary financials and provide key inputs to the list of requirements raised by external auditors during audit field work.
- Lead CIB transformation initiatives and provide key inputs to ensure successful delivery of all finance deliverables.
- Development and ownership of GCF Business Finance relevant policies and accountability for adherence therewith. Identification & reporting of any policy breaches. Development and implementation of Global operational financial policies and procedures for the specific functional areas.
- Manage projects driven by new regulatory requirements in international locations to ensure the key criteria of the regulation is met in a sustainable, efficient, and effective manner.
- Ensure compliance and control of specific accounting processes and practices for proposed new product initiatives or product variations.
- Maintain Key linkages & strong working relationships with senior business leaders within both GCF, Group Finance as well as Senior Management across other enablement functions.
- Work with Treasury on any FTP, capital and liquidity matters affecting both GCF products as required.
- Provide input to wider Finance strategy activities and strive to work together effectively on overall regional and global programs.
- In conjunction with FP&A, continuously assess the quality of service provided to the principal customers and strive to ensure that the area adds value to their objectives through the provision of accurate and valuable financial data and advice.
- Engender a culture of continuous improvement within the CIB Business Finance team, ensuring that operations are kept continually under review and that all opportunities for re-engineering and achieving economies of scale are identified, implemented.
- Review existing systems / processes / procedures and MIS to proactively identify areas of improvements.
- Provide leadership, inspire & help develop the CIB Business Finance function.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualification
- Qualified Finance Professional eg ACA/ICAEW, CIMA, CFA
- Technical knowledge of Wholesale & Investment Banking products
- Proven ability in direct management of a finance team from a leading International Bank(s)
- Proven ability in liaising & dealing with Business leaders, G-CFO, Enablement heads, Auditors & external consultants.
- Experience with reporting development tools such as Excel, Oracle OBIEE, Power BI, Microsoft Reporting Services.
- Proven leader with an ability to influence strategic decisions at a senior management level.
- Excellent communication skills with a high degree of personal integrity who can deliver under pressure.
Minimum Experience
- 5 years relevant experience from a leading international bank(s)
