We're currently doing a strategic search for Bilingual Senior Associates with experience in International Arbitration. This is an opportunity to get involved with one of the best teams in the region, that handles the full range of Dispute Resolution and International arbitrations and act for some of the biggest names in the industry. The ideal candidate will have at least 12 months of experience working in the UAE.
Case Management:
- Review and study the case file and prepare a synopsis of the case including facts and pertinent legal defences/strategies, prior to discussing the case with partners.
- Prepare legal opinions and/or required evidence.
- Organize interview memos, digests and other relevant documents for counsel review and case preparation.
- Prepare witness and matter materials for case preparation by gathering and
- Preparing documents relevant to the deponent, organize exhibits, take notes and handle exhibits during the deposition and digest transcripts to summarize highlights of a proceeding.
- Interview and prepare witness statements.
- Prepare for and attend witness statements.
- Preparing hearing bundles, opening submissions chronologically and cross examination notes.
- To ensure cases which are assigned to them are regularly updated on the internal case system (Code Engine);
- To ensure that the case files are up-to-date without all documents at all times for review and reference purposes of legal counsel.
- Report to senior colleagues at all times and regularly meet with the legal counsel to discuss any relevant case developments.
Supervisory Duties:
- Review any work undertaken by the paralegal and junior associate before sending out to the client (email, advice, any documents drafted).
- Ensure that timesheets for hourly billed clients are provided to the paralegal on a monthly basis.
- Ensure to proofread all documents and emails before finalising.
Arbitration Rules:
- Have a good grasp of arbitration rules under prominent arbitration forums in the region such as, ICC, DIAC, DIFC, LCIA and ADCCAC.
- Have an understanding of litigation proceedings in DIFC.
- To register cases at the appropriate arbitration centre.
