A BIM modeler uses building information modeling software to create a three-dimensional visual plan for a project. used to aid decision-making during the building process. BIM modelers work closely with architects and structural engineers.
The BIM modeler must be able to understand not only how a building fits together but how a building can be modelled accurately in a BIM environment expert having a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This role provides a base level to progress to multiple career paths.
Responsibilities
- Use BIM software to create 3-D plans for projects
- Collaborate with architects and engineers on projects
- Develop accurate construction drawings and extract data based on the discipline BIM platform
- Use the proper elements and scale for projects
- Perform architect's layout and input of markedup drawings into BIM software in accordance with Standards
- Prepare copies and help make sets of documents for transmittal to other parties
- Work under the direction of design professionals and team leaders
- High attention to detail and accuracy, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks
- Familiarity with Dynamo or Grasshopper

Requirements
- Time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- A bachelor's degree is required, with any field of study considered acceptable, except for civil engineering
- Ability to understand technical drawings and plans
- Advanced math and computer skills
- knowledge of 3D layout and design
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to work all plotters, printers and reproduction systems on company
- Ability to work under pressure
- Proficiency in English writing and speaking
