Role Summary
The Business Safety Manager for AMEA is responsible for providing strong leadership and strategic direction for the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) function across our AMEA Business Unit (BU), covering two plants in Saudi Arabia, and additional locations across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. You will ensure that MAAPICO and NCP maintain rigorous HSE standards and that our safety culture aligns with Clorox's global standards, inspiring a cohesive approach to safety and environmental stewardship across all our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Plant and BU-Level Oversight
- Lead the implementation of standardized HSE policies and practices across AMEA plants to foster a strong, consistent safety culture.
- Act as the primary liaison for HSE practices across plant teams, connecting them with relevant stakeholders and support resources.
- Conduct regular plant visits and HSE audits to assess compliance and to identify and address potential safety risks proactively.
- Inspire and support the development of local safety committees and facilitate safety-related training, ensuring staff adherence to best practices.
Enterprise Collaboration and Standards Development
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EH&S policies and programs at the enterprise level, ensuring all regulatory and internal compliance requirements are met.
- Record best practices, incident investigations, and lessons learned, contributing to a central repository of safety knowledge and insights.
- Work closely with HSE peers in other regions, supply chain leaders, ESG teams, and legal counsel to align HSE initiatives with Clorox's global safety and compliance strategies.
BU Safety Accountability
- Actively participate in BU leadership meetings to provide insights on HSE-related matters and ensure that safety objectives align with business goals.
- Collaborate with BU and Plant leaders to set measurable safety goals, communicate expectations, and support initiatives that enhance safety across all levels.
People Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of plant HSE leaders across AMEA, cultivating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching and development opportunities that enhance team effectiveness and promote a safety-first mindset.
- Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging HSE leaders to explore innovative solutions and best practices in safety.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in occupational health and safety within a manufacturing or industrial setting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role overseeing safety teams across multiple sites.
- Proven track record in building, nurturing, and sustaining high-performance teams, especially across geographically dispersed locations.
- Experience with regulatory requirements in HSE within the AMEA region is highly preferred.
Core Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in implementing HSE frameworks, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, safety audits, and risk management.
- Skilled in influencing decisions at all levels and building trust as a key advisor on safety matters.
- Exceptional communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, legal, and ESG representatives.
- Proficiency in developing and executing safety strategies that align with broader business goals while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental health.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Health, Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or a similar certification is preferred, demonstrating commitment to continuous professional development.
