JJob Summary:
Procuring routine and highly technical commodities for the company by considering price, quality, and delivery. Negotiating with suppliers, managing vendor risks, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement process for a specified range of goods to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Assist Commodity Buyers with technical and commercial expertise to enhance their product knowledge and streamline purchasing processes.
- Develop a strong foundation of functional skills and knowledge of relevant purchasing and sourcing concepts.
- Implement procurement policies to ensure clear communication and adherence to budgets and specifications with suppliers.
- Balance both tactical executions with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost-reduction projects.
- Review and evaluate bids and proposals submitted by potential suppliers.
- Prepare purchase orders following negotiated terms, organizational targets, and requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify or qualify new suppliers.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
- Evaluate suppliers, conduct performance reviews, ensure contract compliance, and manage improvement activities.
- Develops technical specifications, instructions, and requirements for RFQ and RFT solicitations; evaluates bids and recommends contracts to the lowest bidder.
- Collaborates with departments/schools to develop scope of work and requirements for RFPs; establishes evaluation methodologies; determines pricing structures and negotiation strategies for competitive negotiations.
- Facilitates evaluation committees, negotiates, and recommends contract awards.
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
- Actively participate in supplier performance reviews.
- Ensure a continuous supply of necessary goods and materials and communicate any supply issues that may impact business operations.
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
- Manage problems and schedule changes and ensure changes are reflected within the ERP systems.
- Execute ad hoc exercises assigned by the corporate supply chain director.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 1 Year experience in construction Purchasing .
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is preferred.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office and ability to learn new software/programs as opportunities or department needs arise.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with team, internal customers, and suppliers that strongly focus on teamwork and internal/external customer satisfaction.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and superior follow-up and follow-through skills.
- Proven track record of cost savings and process improvement initiatives
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and negotiation skills.
- A developed and strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant purchasing and sourcing concepts.
