Job Description

Administrative Activities:

To assist Physician in clinic including accessing, adding, and modifying the patient medical records under the physicians supervision.

Request the necessary investigation for the patient.

To assist the provision of high-quality care to patients and their families under the direction and supervision of the Physician/ Registered Nurse/ Midwifes.

  • 4 Demonstrate a range of skills to meet the needs of patients whilst promoting dignity, privacy, and respect.

  • 5 To provide a range of healthcare and non-nursing duties, ensuring efficient and effective service to the ward/department at all times.

  • 6 To assist with administration and non-nursing duties.

  • 7 To perform basic care under the direction of Physician/ Registered Nurse/ Midwife.

  • 8 To assist all patients who are able, towards independence and activity under the direction of the physician/Registered Nurse/Midwife.

  • 9 To provide patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients call and requests; reporting observation of the patient to the team leader.

  • 10 To assist patient transfer to other departments.

  • 11 To accompany patients who are ready for discharge.

  • 12 To transport equipment and patient records between departments.

  • 13 To support the registered nurse staff and ward clerk in the clerical,

    administrative and receptionist duties in the ward.

  • 14 To assist in maintenance of stocks and non-medical supplies.

  • 15 To develop and utilize good communication skills and receive and

    pass on telephone message.

  • 16 To correctly use aids and equipment supplied for patients. Report needs and obvious defects of this equipment to the Registered Nurse/ Midwife in charge.

  • 17 To cover the duties of the ward clerk in absence.

  • 18 To advice the Registered Nurse/ Midwife in charge of malfunctioning equipment.

  • 19 To liaise with the Registered Nurse/ Midwifes in charge in the assessment of equipment and medical consumable items requirements.

  • 20 To ensure appropriate utilization of resources effectively and efficiently.

  • 21 To provide positive patient experience through the delivery of high-quality customer service.

  • 22 To identify unsafe care practices and contribute to corrective actions.

  • 23 Observe and maintain confidentiality of information data relating to patients, staff, service and the the organization.

  • 24 To appropriately escalate identified concerns according to level of urgency.

  • 25 To demonstrate an understanding of positive health and promote positive health.

  • 26 To ensure continuity of care, the clinic assistant must update the physician/midwife in charge of any task, procedures and advice given to the patient and his/ her family.

  • 27 To work within the current policies issued by hospital, reporting any sickness and accidents to the physician/Registered nurse/midwife and Nurse Manager.

  • 28 To liaise with nursing colleagues and other professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, local requirements and JCI standards.

  • 29 To participate in any other duties that you may be asked to undertake by physician/ Senior nursing staff within the scope of practice.

  • 30 To ensure that patients/ clients belongings and valuebale are kept safely, adhering to local procedures.

  • 31 To be able to administer and seek advice on the appropriate measures in an emergency.

  • 32 To ensure that patient/clients

  • 33 Privacy maintained and that dignity and freedom of choice is enhanced.

  • 34 To report all changes in patients condition to the physician/Registered nurse/ Midwife.

  • 35 To maintain knowledge, skills and accept responsibility for own education and career development.

  • 36 To attend in service training, other training program and meetings as required.

  • 37 Set goal and standards for self-improvement.

  • 38 To process clear understanding and commitment to NMC policy. Accepts and recognizes the legal limitations and ethical parameters of the role.

  • 39 Demonstrate effective oral and written communications skills.

  • 40 Demonstrate flexibility in meeting work demands and able to work as a team.

  • 41 Demonstrate understanding of cultural differences.

  • 42 Takes direction from the Registered nurse/ midwife in problem solving.

  • 43 Maintains confidentiality at all times.

  • 44 Be informed on health & safety regulation affecting the unit in which they work.

  • 45 Have full knowledge of fire precautions and regulations.

  • 46 Be familiar with all types of Hospital codes and know how to telephone for emergency services.

  • 47 The Clinic Assistant will also be expected to contribute to the wider corporate and organizational development needs as appropriate within the scope of service.

  • 48 The Clinic assistant will be expected to ensure compliance with the requirement of the health and safety regulations of the hospital.

  • 49 Meets work demands and is able to follow directions accurately.

  • 50 To perform any other duty as required by line manager that commensurate with the post.

  • 51 Prepare patient for examination by Doctor.

  • 52 Assists Doctor and Registered nurse/ midwife in certain procedures e.g. Amniocentesis, Amino Drainage, CVS, IUT.

  • 53 Ensures that all procedures and investigations are charged.

  • 54 Ensure clinics are clean and clinical waste is managed as per hospital/DOH guidelines.

  • 55 Ensures treatment rooms are cleaned after each procedure is completed.

  • 56 Cleans used instruments as necessary before sending the instruments to CSSD for sterilization.

  • 57 Cleans used equipment after every use and dates/ signs clean equipment tag.

  • 58 Maintains inventory of all clinical trays and surgical instruments stored in doctors room and treatment room.

  • 59 Assist in Outpatient clinics where required. Flexible in assignment when directed by Registered Nurse/ Midwifes in charge.

  • 60 Complying consistently with NMC policies, procedures & practices.

  • 61 Maintain confidentiality with regards with any information exchanged or received in current capacity in accordance with confidentiality agreement and organizational policy.

  • 62 Employee shall adhere to and follow infection control guidelines and quality standards as published by quality Department.

  • 63 Employee must understand and adhere to the Emergency preparedness plan / policy.

  • 64 Participate in mandatory training and workshop as per organizational and regulators.

  • 65 Dress appropriately as per organizational policy and the culture of United Arab Emirates.

  • 66 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.

  • 67 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.

    Nursing Qualification with license preferred or High School Diploma.

    Two Years or more years of experience in hospital environment/ Nursing experience.

    BLS certificate preferred.
