The Clinical Pathologist is responsible for analyzing and contributing to the diagnosis of the bodily fluids, assuring quality control and adherence to licensing as well as accreditation requirements. The clinical practice of a Clinical Pathologist encompasses the independent review, reporting, and interpretation of laboratory tests and the management of all aspects of these services based on education and experience. The Clinical Pathologist provides formal and informal consultation with medical staff regarding laboratory test procedures, interpretation of test results, and diagnostic reports including recommendations for patient management. The clinical practice may be performed in a general clinical laboratory or in a number of specialized areas of expertise such as virology, immunology, clinical chemistry, endocrinology, toxicology and molecular diagnostics. Integral features of each of the areas may include research, consultation, education, information management, and administration. The practice also includes review and approval of internal quality control and external quality assurance programs in laboratory medicine and the development and validation of new laboratory tests. Clinical Pathologist participates in continuous professional development, corporate and laboratory accreditation programs, and laboratory quality management programs. The Clinical Pathologist practices within the ethical and legal parameters of the profession.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Description:
- Actively participates in interdisciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe, and holistic care for individual patients.
- Reviews and interprets results of all investigations and provides guidance to less experienced colleagues.
- Responsible for the delivery of high-quality evidence-based testing within a Pathology Service.
- Regularly reviews results of all investigations and assesses the appropriateness of testing in consultation with the Senior Management team.
- Provides clinical excellence by effective and efficient diagnosis.
- Provides formal and informal consultation with medical staff regarding laboratory test results, interpretation of test results, and diagnostic reports including recommendations for patient management.
- Delivers safe, effective, and holistic clinical services within accepted standards of care.
- Accurately documents all relevant clinical/scientific information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures.
- Supports implements, and follows all hospital, departmental, and divisional initiatives, policies, and procedures.
- Reviews and approves internal quality control and external quality assurance programs in laboratory.
- Liaises with colleagues, Allied Health staff, nursing, administrative, and support services staff for additional input as required.
- Practices appropriate utilization of the organization's resources.
- Demonstrates an active interest in educating and fostering future academic leaders nationally and internationally through active participation in education initiatives.
- Demonstrates an active interest and involvement in research by initiating innovative clinical or research outcomes or collaborating on research projects to support the Naufar vision.

- Keeps abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industry.
- Supports and participates in the organization's performance management, including peer reviews and the productivity and utilization review processes.
- Ensures the provision of timely, efficient, and high-quality diagnostic and consultative services in Biochemistry.
- Ensures that the laboratory testing supports the performance of medically appropriate patient care.
- Ensures prompt communication with other relevant clinicians and health care providers.
- Ensures cooperation and liaison with clinical services or other agencies to provide diagnostic pathology data, consultation, peer review, and other audit data.
- Participates in and collaborates with appropriate and relevant hospital committees and working groups, to oversee management/quality activities of the department.
- Represents the Department of laboratory to internal and external clients or client groups, as required.
- Ensures that the laboratory provides testing that is at the forefront of in terms of the range of diagnostic testing and technical equipment appropriate to a hospital of international standing.
- Maintains familiarity with new technology and procedures relevant.
- Actively participates in relevant accreditation programs and supports their implementation as required.
- Takes an active part in research and teaching programs of the department.

Job Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
Professional/Academic Qualifications:
Qualified in one of the below
- MD, DO licensed to practice in the jurisdiction where the laboratory is located (if required) and have Certification in clinical pathology OR Doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
Experience:
- At least one year of laboratory training during medical residency/fellowship
- At least two years of clinical laboratory training or experience
- Two years of laboratory experience directing or supervising high complexity testing
- QCHP license
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Maintain proficiency and develop diagnostic skills through regular continuing education
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Computer skills are highly desired
- Participate in the quality control programs
- Demonstrated experience with strong Interpersonal, organizational, teamwork, and negotiation skills
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record System
- Strong Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Power point).
- Knowledge of regulatory agencies requirements including CAP, MOPH
- High communications skills including writing of proposals, presentation skills and facilitation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to act on own initiatives within framework of Naufar
