JOB PURPOSE
Clinical psychologist practices the professional application of clinical psychology theories and evidence-based methods in assessment and treatment of psychological dysfunction and impairment including emotional and mental health disorders. Clinical psychologists are an integral member of interdisciplinary teams, providing comprehensive assessments and psychological treatment interventions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Clinical Duties:
- Provides specialist clinical psychological assessments and diagnosis for patients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex psychological data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients, family members and others involved in the patient's care.
- Provides clinical formulations and comprehensive written reports regarding assessments completed or tests administered.
- Provides specialized clinical psychological input to the patients including assessment results and proposed clinical psychological interventions for psychological, behavioral and learning challenges. Implements plans for the formal clinical psychological treatment and/or management of a psychological problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the problems, and employing methods of proven efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
- Implements a range of clinical psychological interventions, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
- Provide evidence-based interventions.
- Evaluates and makes decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual.
- Reviews relevant medical records to understand cases better.
- Provides specialist clinical psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to patient's formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
- Provides individual group therapy in variety of settings as needed. Makes sure that patient and family participation and input is integrated with the overall treatment plan.
- Maintains confidentiality with regards to information exchanged or received.
- Contributes to the development and articulation of best practices and standards of clinical psychology services.
- Maintains the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing.
- Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.
- Assist in the setup, organization and operation of Naufar clinical services.
Educational Duties:
- Participates and lead in psychology in-service development.
- Develop and implement Naufar service evaluation and improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the teaching of other multidisciplinary team members, clinical and non clinical staff to promote knowledge and understanding of psychology and the psychological strategies for enhancing Patient's care.
- To remain up to date on recent developments in the field of psychological treatment and to adapt clinical practice to reflect evidence-based Patient's care.
Supervision:
- Provides clinical supervision for assistant psychologist, trainees and students.
- Participates in weekly individual and group supervision where special emphasis is placed on clinical case formulations, personal development, professional and ethical practice standards and performance review.
- Report to supervisor on progress and outcomes of mutually agreed projects and professional goals.
- Complete monthly progress and activity report in line with relevant requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Professional/Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Arts (Psychology). (Essential)
- Master's degree in Clinical Psychology (Essential)
Certification/ Licensure:
- Valid Primary license from the country of origin as a clinical psychologist/ counselling psychologist/ psychotherapist.(Essential)
- Eligible for license from the Licensing authority in the State of Qatar to practice as a Clinical Psychologist.(Essential)
- Up-to date CPD in relevant clinical/counselling psychology areas.(Essential)
Experience:
- 5 years in clinical psychology field out of 2 years relevant experience in Addiction or Substances Abuse Disorders. (MANDATORY)
- Multidisciplinary experience across the fields of mental and physical health. (MANDATORY)
- Previous experience in area of personality disorders treatment and/or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). (MANDATORY)
- Advanced residential Patient's and ambulatory care Patient's clinical skills. (MANDATORY)
