Job Purpose:
- The Director of Finance is responsible for the accounting and financial control functions of the hotel.
- This includes ensuring compliance with local and corporate policies, safeguarding the hotel's financial resources, and providing accurate financial information and counsel to senior management.
Job Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Reporting
- Monitor, control, and record all sales, purchases, salaries, and expenses.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly financial reports in accordance with corporate formats and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Prepare forecasts and budgets, and report any deviations or non-compliance to the General Manager.
- Provide timely and accurate financial information to senior management.
Internal Controls and Policies
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and corporate policies.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls and safeguards to ensure profitability and operational control.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate policies, local regulations, and industry best practices.
Leadership and Team Management
- Assign and delegate responsibilities to the Assistant Director of Finance, Director of Purchasing, and other supervisory staff.
- Evaluate the performance of accounting and purchasing personnel, emphasizing development and future advancement.
- Foster a professional and collaborative work environment, promoting integrity and accountability.
Treasurer Functions
- Manage cash planning and review the hotel's cash position daily to optimize the use of funds.
- Oversee the status of accounts receivable aging and monitor billing and collections.
Compliance and Auditing
- Ensure timely deposit of all local, state, and federal taxes and timely filing of related reports.
- Maintain compliance with all contracts, leases, and agreements.
- Liaise with external and internal auditors, ensuring effective action on agreed-upon recommendations.
Additional Duties
- Conduct any additional duties as assigned by the General Manager.
- Represent the hotel professionally at all times, reflecting the high standards of [Hotel Chain Name].
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- CPA or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 18 years of experience in a senior finance role within the hospitality industry.
- Proven track record of managing financial operations, budgets, and financial reporting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
