Job Summary:
Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies
Key Accountabilities:
- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference plans, locations of surfaces and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Programs mills & lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches, calculating requirements including math, geometry and trigonometry and pivoting part programs.
- Maintains specifications by the following activities:
- Observing all CAD/CAM process, strategy and approach
- Detecting malfunctions
- Troubleshooting processes
- Adjusting and reprogramming controls and
- Adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
- Creates NC programs utilizing high accuracy machining techniques and using machine simulation software
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Ensuring a safe and efficient manufacturing environment
- Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Experience & Education Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years Exp. as CNC programmer
- Minimum: High School diploma
- Well versed in CAM software (MasterCAM, Edge CAM, NX, Vericut or CATIA)
- Preferred: experience on controllers including:
- Fanuc turn and mill, Heidenheim Controls, Siemens, Mazak ( Masetrol ), Gsk controller, Syntec
- Conceptual Skills, attention to detail
- Ability to read engineering drawings & Models
- Experience with Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software
