About The Role
A new science fiction anthology comic book series writer is seeking a talented illustrator/art director for its debut issue. Each issue will feature a unique standalone sci-fi story. This position offers the opportunity to shape the visual direction of an original series from its inception, with potential for long-term partnership and cover credit recognition. The first issue consists of 9 main scenes with approximately 93 panels in black and white format, plus a full-color cover.
Responsibilities
- Develop character designs based on provided specifications
- Create dynamic panel layouts and sequential art for 9 distinct scenes
- Illustrate approximately 93 story panels in black and white
- Design and execute a full-color cover illustration
- Integrate dialogue and text elements into panel layouts
Requirements
- Strong portfolio demonstrating sequential art capabilities
- Experience in science fiction/speculative fiction illustration
- Proficiency in both black and white and color illustration
- Understanding of comic book storytelling and panel composition
- Ability to maintain consistent character designs across panels
- Strong visual storytelling abilities
