MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Construction Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing construction projects from inception to completion. This role involves ensuring that all projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. The Construction Manager will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and team members, to facilitate effective project execution. With a focus on budgeting, organization, and scheduling, this position requires strong project management skills to coordinate resources and resolve any challenges that may arise. The Construction Manager's attention to detail and commitment to excellence will be essential in delivering successful construction outcomes.
KEY MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion
- Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs
- Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations
- Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors
- Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory
- Meet contractual conditions of performance
- Review the work progress on daily basis
- Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
- Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
- Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses
- Analyze, manage and mitigate risks
- Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
Requirements
SKILLS:
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, technologies, and safety practices, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
- Familiarity with building-code requirements, scheduling methods, and construction management processes
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a focus on quality
- Expertise in building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
- Competence in conflict and crisis management, along with leadership and human resources management skills
- Excellent time and project management abilities, including proficiency in construction management software
- Strong planning skills with an understanding of the big picture.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is a plus
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on renewable energy projects, particularly wind farms, Professional certification, such as CCM (Certified Construction Manager), AC (Associate Constructor), or CPC (Certified Professional Constructor) preferred
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and other relevant tools for project tracking and reporting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Proven experience leading construction teams and managing subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
- Hands-on experience managing construction sites, including safety, quality control, and compliance with regulations
- Experience working closely with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure cohesive project execution
- In-depth understanding of wind turbine technology, construction processes, and renewable energy systems
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, permitting processes, and safety standards relevant to construction in the renewable energy sector
- Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting related to construction projects
