Main duties of the job
It is envisaged that the post holder will carry out their duties as a full-time consultant in anaesthesia based at United Kingdom. There may be a requirement to provide cross site working in line with current patterns within the department to support robust and sustainable provision of workforce in anaesthesia.
On-call work will involve overnight Consultant cover of the Intensive Care Unit and weekend daytime cover of the Acute theatres and obstetrics.Post-holders will not need to be FICM accredited but must demonstrate adequate Intensive Care Medicine experience at interview.
The posts are initially contracted for 10 programmed activities per week.
The demands of the Anaesthetic department mean that close and ongoing collaboration with consultant colleagues is required. A degree of mutual two-way flexibility in sessional provision is anticipated.
Individual job plans will be discussed and finalised with the clinical director on appointment and will become operational on commencement. All job plans are agreed in line with the Trusts Job Planning Principles.
The job plan will be a prospective agreement that sets out a consultants typical working pattern, duties and responsibilities. It will cover all aspects of a consultants professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education, managerial responsibilities and external commitments.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential criteria
- Registerable medical qualification and FRCA or equivalent
* Full Registration with GMC and within 6 months of completion of specialist training or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
- Full Registration with GMC and completed subspecialty training programmed in anaesthesia with CCT (on the Specialist Register)
