Cardiovascular Surgeon Duties And Responsibilities
- Examining patients that suffer from heart issues.
- Making diagnoses.
- Determining treatments and surgical procedures.
- Performing surgical procedures to correct, improve, and remove heart problems.
- Advising on lifestyle changes post surgery.
- Develop and recommend treatment plans, including whether surgery is the best option for the patient.
- Discuss the risks, benefits, and expected outcomes of surgical procedures with patients and their families.
- Work with a multidisciplinary team (cardiologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, etc.) to coordinate patient care.
- Perform various types of cardiovascular surgeries such as:
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
- Valve repair or replacement
- Aneurysm repair
- Heart transplants
- Repair of congenital heart defects
- Vascular surgeries, such as carotid artery surgery
- Use specialized equipment like heart-lung machines and advanced surgical tools to perform procedures.
- Monitor patients closely after surgery to ensure proper recovery.
- Manage complications, such as infections, bleeding, or cardiac arrhythmias.
- Collaborate with critical care teams to provide post-operative care in the ICU.
- Conduct regular follow-up visits to monitor recovery and assess the effectiveness of the surgery.
- Adjust medications or treatment plans based on the patients recovery progress.
- Provide lifestyle recommendations to help prevent future cardiovascular issues.
- Stay updated on advancements in cardiovascular treatments and surgical techniques.
- Participate in research studies or clinical trials to contribute to the development of new therapies or surgical procedures.
- Attend medical conferences and continuing education programs to refine skills and stay current in the field.
- Mentor and train medical students, interns, and residents in cardiovascular surgery techniques and procedures.
Requirements / Skills / Qualifications
- Medical Degree and specialization degree in Cardiovascular Surgery
- Stable work history as a Cardiovascular Surgeon, log book required
- At least a 5-year surgery residency.
- License to practice.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
- Patience.
Salary : AED 70K to AED 80K
