Job Responsibilities - OPS Supervisors
- Health, Safety, and Environment Compliance:
Adhere to and promote Health, Safety, and Environment and Security policies.- Ensure fellow employees and visitors comply, striving to provide a safe and secure workplace for all.
Operational Safety Oversight:- Ensure the operational area is safe by maintaining vigilance over terminal areas for unsafe conditions and practices.
Operations Monitoring:
- Monitor vessel and yard operations to maximize productivity and minimize delays, adhering to safety and standard operating procedures and customer requirements.
Regular Site Visits:- Visit the vessel and yard at regular intervals to monitor all operations, ensuring execution according to the plan and priorities set by the Shift Manager/Superintendent.
Problem Resolution:
- Identify, address, and promptly resolve problems and issues that may arise during vessel and yard operations to improve and maintain operational production.
Incident Reporting:- Report to the duty superintendent when necessary, especially for issues of complexity or great impact on the operation such as incidents.
Equipment Utilization:
- Ensure the optimum utilization of all equipment during the designated shift period by monitoring equipment work queues and allocating equipment and personnel as required to achieve maximum productivity.
Operations Timing Reporting:- Record and report the timing of operations commencement and completion to the Shift Manager/Superintendent.
Shift Handover Reporting:
- Maintain a handover report through email, updated with all the operational details from the shift, to facilitate the operations of the next shift.
Supervision of Operations Staff:- Supervise the Operations Staff and indirectly the stevedores, communicating the vessel discharge and load plan and organizing gangs to achieve the highest possible crane productivity.
Stevedoring Issues Management:
- Act as a focal point for any stevedoring issues, ensuring that the load and discharge registration is performed accurately and timely.
Crane Sequence List Assessment:- Assess the crane sequence list prepared by the planner, recommending changes when required.
Check the recap of loading and discharge, and compare it with the crane sequence list and color sheet to determine possible clashing.Shift Changeover Management:
Ensure operators follow a hot seat changeover at shift changeover times and rest break changeovers.
- Gear and Sling Preparation:
Prepare and assist in the selection of gear/slings used for unconventional cargo and non-standard containers.Additional Functions:
Perform other functions as assigned.
