Tekfen Construction is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Contract Administrator / Engineer to join our team for projects based in Qatar. This role is integral to our project operations, providing support across both pre-award and post-award stages to ensure the successful execution and administration of contracts and subcontracts.
The successful candidate will be part of the Contract Management team overseeing infrastructure and oil and gas projects in Qatar and will primarily operate from project site offices located in Lusail and Ras Laffan Industrial City initially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Preparation: Prepare various types of contracts, including subcontracts, service agreements, and supply agreements, using standard forms or Tekfen's bespoke contract templates.
- Contract Management: Conduct pre-award and post-award contract administration, including the review and analysis of contract terms, negotiations, and discussions with subcontractors. Monitor and ensure the timely fulfilment of contractual requirements. Support project teams in understanding their contractual obligations and provide necessary advice. Resolve commercially blocking points to facilitate the smooth execution of contracts and safeguard the Company's contractual rights, from initiation through to successful closeout.
- Correspondence Preparation: Draft, review, and manage contractual correspondence with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure compliance with contract requirements, facilitate commercial proceedings, and meet contract and project needs.
- Change & Variation Management: Track and manage changes and variations in project scope, ensuring proper documentation. Review incoming change requests promptly and ensure the timely submission of outgoing claims and change requests as necessary.
- Claims Management: Collaborate with project teams to identify, prepare, and submit claims in compliance with contract terms.
- Monitor and follow up on contractual proceedings to ensure compliance and alignment with project goals.
- Conduct necessary studies on contractual matters for the Company, considering technical, commercial, and legal perspectives, as well as Company policies.
- Efficiently utilise the Company's ERP software to ensure timely contract administration for the contracts under your responsibility.
- Ensure that all logs and trackers are consistently updated and accurately reflect current information.
- Assist in coordinating, resolving, and negotiating contractual issues related to ongoing and potential project challenges.
- Support departments in identifying contractual risk events and propose effective solutions.
- Monitor contract performance to ensure adherence to KPIs, key milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Civil or Mechanical), Law, or Quantity Surveying.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in contract management and administration, ideally in international projects within the construction sector.
- Strong understanding of contractual principles and conditions, particularly in construction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus but not mandatory.
- Proficient in MS Office, with advanced skills in Excel.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
- Candidates must be based in Qatar and possess an available NOC from a previous employer, if applicable.
- International project experience is preferred.
- Strong team player with effective coordination and negotiation skills.
- Well-organised, diligent, detail-oriented, proactive, assertive, disciplined, and commercially astute.
- Possess a can-do attitude; outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible.
