Ensure that commercial resources are adequate for successful delivery of the project
Demonstrate a high level of commercial and technical knowledge and work as part of the Project Team
Develop & manage a strategic contract that reflects customer's needs and take account of legalisation, Health & Safety, fraud prevention, sustainability and workforce issues
Ensure other contractual obligations are fulfilled, including Health & Safety and sustainability
Maintain and manage project risk registers to ensure early identification of risks and ensure that contingencies are in place to manage and minimise the risks
Implement and comply fully with D&M's Commercial Procedures at site level
Ensure the maximising of cash flow through the timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices and receipt of payment
Ensure that project teams have a good commercial understanding and focus, giving the appropriate motivation and leading by personal example
Manage the timely procurement of subcontractors
Take ownership of Objectives set by Management / Department Head
Support the Head of Contracts/Commercial in the development & implementation of the supplier performance & contract management strategy
Contribute to budget preparation of Commercial Department
Deliver optimum performance levels for major service contracts within the contracts portfolio
Manage the prompt preparation of variations, claims and disputes
Manage, control and provide work guidance to assigned personnel, promote knowledge sharing and learning and development of team who are able to think out of the box
Provide expert advice to departments on relevant contracts, in compliance with appropriate legislation, budgets, professional standards and the D&M's vision and values
Responsible for developing and managing strategic contracts in accordance with the D&M's vision, policies, governance arrangement and values
Support the D&M's business continuity planning by providing expert advice & guidance where required
Develop close working relationship with the D&M's Legal services department regarding all matters relating to contractual terms and conditions, new legislation and other relevant legal matters
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in a related discipline, or equivalent
A further Legal related degree would be an advantage
Attainment of Professional Member Qualification, e.g. RICS, CIOB, ICES, CIARB or similar
Minimum 12 years of related work experience in similar industries
