Job Summary and Purpose:
To establish and manage the overall activities pertaining to the development/revision, tracking and follow up of the QAFCO Sustainability Plan and its other related activities. Responsible for the establishment of strategies, targets, and initiatives to ensure the sustainability of QAFCO's operations.
Anticipate and adapt to regulatory changes and / or risks and opportunities in regard to sustainability.
Ensures the annual communication of QAFCO's environmental, social and governance (ESG) data collection and analysis, according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards to improve stakeholder engagement. QAFCO's single point of contact for sustainability matters and reporting.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and manage the QAFCO Sustainability Policy and Plan in accordance with the three sustainability pillars (environmental, social and economic).
- Develop and manage the QAFCO Sustainability Plan based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Qatar's National Vision and QatarEnergy direction about sustainability.
- Ensure alignment between QAFCO's sustainability plan and its long-term strategy.
- Establish proper governance of the QAFCO Sustainability Plan through ensuring its implementation, conducting regular reviews and providing regular feedback on the progress of the Plan to the Executive Management Team.
- Design and develop cross-functional sustainability performance goals, KPIs, metrics, initiatives, or strategies in collaboration with senior management.
- Develop and maintain sustainability program documents, such as schedules and budgets.
- Compile project proposals, grant applications or other documents to pursue funding for environmental initiatives.
- Ensure communication of internal and external sustainability reports in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Standard (GRI).
- Review sustainability plan goals, progress, or status to ensure compliance with policies, standards, regulations, or laws.
- Develop methodologies to assess the viability of success of sustainability initiatives.
- Recommend strategies to address issues such as energy use, resource conservation, recycling, pollution reduction, waste elimination, transportation, training, and development.
- Conduct annual stakeholder (internal and external) engagement exercise to enhance report disclosure and company transparency, which will be reflected into other issues and sustainability indicators report.
- Engage with QAFCO's Strategic Planning Team to ensure Business and Strategic Plans are aligned with sustainability principles. Ensure integration of sustainability annual targets into various divisional annual objectives / business plans to ensure they are in alignment with QAFCO's mission and vision.
- Ensures the alignment of QAFCO's Business and Strategic Plans with strategies and goals set by the State of Qatar and QatarEnergy.
- Analyze and provide feedback from cross-discipline teams from a sustainability perspective to support the development of QAFCO's strategic plan.
- Provide guidance to leaders in the company to develop sub-strategies to fit current social, economic, and environmental challenges.
- Assess impact of internal and external organizational changes to stakeholders in terms of sustainability.
- Ensure communication of the QAFCO Annual Sustainability Report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Standards (GRI).
- Lead benchmark studies against industrial partners to improve corporate sustainability performance.
- Gain alignment with QatarEnergy with respect to the plan necessary to achieve sustainability targets.
- Establish strong industry relations with consultants and shareholders to gather necessary sustainability needs, list and prioritize goals, agree on initiatives to support sustainability goals with senior management, integrate with corporate Strategy Plan, and work with affected departments on the tactical and operational objectives to ensure work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner, in line with the business plans, policies and procedures.
- Develops Qatarization plans to assist qualified Qatari Nationals to occupy potential vacancies so as to adhere to stipulated Qatarization targets.
- Encourages others to demonstrate key behaviors in order to achieve department objectives.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline from a recognized University.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience, including at least 5 to 7 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities in the field of sustainability within Oil & Gas or Chemical manufacturing experience.
