Job Description
AESG are currently recruiting Cost Managers to join our growing cost management team based in the UAE to work on various large-scale building and infrastructure projects.
As a Cost Manager, you will support project leaders in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing, and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider. You should be a self-motivated and client facing professional, with the ability to manage multiple projects and clients ordeveloping your career towards that objective. The role will primarily be pre-contract based, but with the opportunity to assist on post-contract based projects as required.
This exciting position is to work within a market leading &, growing team of cost management professionals, working alongside leadingglobal architects, interior designers, and engineers, advising major industry clients.
The successful candidate will have experience working as part of a dedicated consultancy team delivering successful cost management services on major projects. The role will offer significantopportunity for progression and career development. You will need to demonstrate relevant and recent experience with appropriately sized projects as well as the ability to engage and communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and contractors. The ideal candidate will have a technical and experience-based QS background, a solid understanding of numerous design standards, and the ability to communicate advice appropriately and effectively. MRICS achievement or aspiration is preferred but not necessarily mandatory for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities:
Day to day management of cost management activities on your projects
Supporting and preparing project cost estimates from concept through various stages of design using experience, historical data, and parametric ratios.
Utilisation of the existing AESG developed digital tools and contributing to the creation of new bespoke tools for our clients
Advanced cost modelling (Excel)
Estimating and functional cost planning (CostX)
Advising and driving value engineering prerogatives.
Undertaking cost management services with limited supervision.
Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner.
Providing support to the team leader/service leaders in the cost management of projects.
Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting, negotiating, and corresponding with clients to form strong working relationships.
Providing reasoned advice on complex matters, understanding when to escalate matters to superiors.
Providing accurate cost advice and reporting to our clients.
Maintaining effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects; liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control.
Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner.
Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner; meeting, negotiating and corresponding with clients to form strong working relationships.
Independently manage complex projects and resolve complex project issues.
Provide mentorship and support to the graduate and junior cost management team.
Support the commercial success and stability of the cost management division.
Ensure the successful delivery of projects to exemplary levels of quality.
Demonstrate expertise in discipline with a proven track record of success.
Support the development of procedures to improve division function and efficiency.
Support in the preparation, submission and winning of proposals (if required).
Pipeline and invoicing management for CM projects under your management.
Supporting client account management, monthly invoicing, purchase order management and reviewing contractual terms.
Essential Skills:
BSc, BTech or MSc in Quantity Surveying or Contracts-related field
Minimum 5+ years of working experience.
Experience in delivering high quality cost management / quantity surveying services.
Previous technical delivery experience gained within a global consultancy firm is preferred.
Middle East experience preferred.
Experience or exposure to regional projects is an advantage.
Advanced utilisation and application of Microsoft excel for the creation of cost models.
Utilising digital software for delivery of cost management services.
Ability to successfully manage and prioritise more than one project at a time.
Working towards a professional qualification (RICS or similar).
Good technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills.
Well-organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined, and commercially astute.
A team player with a can-do attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible.
