About Us:
Backyard Symphony is dedicated to showcasing innovative digital media art and creating immersive experiences for audiences. We are looking for a talented and passionate Art Director/Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of our upcoming digital media art exhibition.
Position Overview:
As the Art Director/Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the exhibition, from conceptual development to execution. Your role will involve coordinating with artists, managing project timelines, and ensuring that the artistic vision is effectively communicated through the exhibition design and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creative Leadership: Develop and communicate a compelling artistic vision for the exhibition in collaboration with artists and stakeholders.
- Project Management: Plan, execute, and manage all phases of the exhibition project lifecycle, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Artist Coordination: Liaise with participating artists to facilitate their work's integration into the exhibit while providing support throughout the process.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with curators, technical teams, marketing professionals, and other staff members to ensure seamless collaboration across all departments.
- Budget Management: Prepare budgets for individual projects within the exhibition; monitor expenditures against budgetary constraints.
- Logistics Coordination: Oversee logistics related to installation/de-installation of artworks, including equipment rentals, transportation needs, and technical requirements.
- Audience Engagement: Design strategies for audience engagement during pre-exhibition promotion and throughout the event.
- Marketing Support: Collaborate with marketing teams to create promotional materials aligned with artistic concepts; attend meetings to refine outreach strategies.
- Media-technology design lead: leading or directing the media mediums with the artists such as screens or other A/V systems
Qualifications: (good to have but not necessary)
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Project Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Proven experience in art direction or project management within an art context (digital art preferred).
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello) and design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal with strong interpersonal abilities.
- A passion for digital media art and familiarity with current trends in contemporary art practices.
