Data Analyst

Job Summary:

The Data Analyst is responsible for extracting, transforming, and analyzing data, generating, maintaining, and delivering data reports using various sources like MS-SQL database, Oracle Database , Excel sheets etc. to provide insights and support data-driven decision-making within the organization. This role plays a critical part in data management, reporting, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Data analyst responsibilities include conducting full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities, and design.

Responsibilities:

• Data Extraction and Transformation:

Retrieve and preprocess data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and external systems to create reports.

• Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
• Data Analysis:

Perform ad-hoc data analysis to answer specific business questions or investigate data anomalies. Query and analyze data using SQL to discover insights, trends, and patterns. Create ad-hoc and routine reports to support business decisions.

• Data Visualization:

Design, develop, and maintain data reports and dashboards using SQL and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.

• Data Quality Assurance:

Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency in all reports. Monitor and resolve data quality issues and discrepancies.

• Database Management:

Assist in maintaining and optimizing databases, including performance tuning and indexing. Maintain proper Database Backup Collaborate with database administrators on data storage and security.

• Data Modelling:

Design and implement data models to support reporting and analysis requirements.

• Collaboration:

Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs. Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support decision-making. Provide guidance and training to end-users on accessing and understanding reports

• Statistical Analysis:

Apply statistical methods to perform deeper data analysis when necessary. Interpret statistical results and draw meaningful conclusions.

• Creating Dashboards and Reports:

Data analysts need to be able to create dashboards and reports that communicate insights to stakeholders. This includes using tools like Power BI, Tableau , Oracle BI, etc to create interactive dashboards and reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline, A master's degree may be preferred.
• Proven experience in SQL, data analysis, and database management.
• Proficiency in complex SQL query language and strong experience of database systems like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle etc
• Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau or similar platforms.
• Expertise in Excel

Skills:

• Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst.
• Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques, machine learning techniques.
• Strong experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL, Oracle etc.), programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks)
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
• Proven experience as a Database Architect or DBA, with hands-on expertise in migrating MSSQL Server 2017 databases to Azure SQL, bulk data migration, change data capture, and query optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of Azure SQL Database, including provisioning, management, and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of database migration methodologies, best practices, and challenges.
• Knowledge in Data warehousing will be added advantage
• Proficiency in SQL scripting, stored procedure optimization, and database performance tuning.
• Familiarity with change data capture mechanisms and real-time data synchronization techniques.
• Solid understanding of database security principles and data encryption.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Relevant Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis. Experience with Snowflake and Click House is a plus.
• Proven experience working with large datasets and using analytical tools to derive actionable insights.
• Experience with high-load infrastructure environments and optimizing data processing and analysis for scalability and performance.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with a proactive and results-driven mindset
