About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled DCS/SIS Automation Engineer to lead our automation efforts for a prospective project. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of distributed control systems and safety instrumented systems, with a specific focus on automation and process control. The ideal candidate will have over 20 years of industry experience in the design, application, and engineering of Distributed Control Systems and Safety Instrumented Systems, the successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of managing complex automation processes. Proficiency in Engineering Standards for Instrumentation, such as API, ISA, PIP, and NEC, is essential, along with certifications like NCEES PE, ISA CAP, and TUV/EXIDA FSE.
Experience with Emerson DeltaV, Schneider Triconex/Trident, Siemens Simatic S7 Systems, Bentley Nevada VMS, process analyzers, and flow meters is highly advantageous. Additionally, the candidate should be well-versed in communication protocols like DNP3, Modbus, Fieldbus, TCP, IEC, SPA, RP570, ANSI, and general process automation protocols, including industrial communication and wireless technology.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead teams in designing and implementing customized complex and/or standard engineering solutions, typically overseeing all aspects of large projects. Experience with cybersecurity, identity and access management (IAM), and advanced applications is also required. As the DCS/SIS Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all control systems and components are designed, installed, tested, operated, and maintained according to operational requirements.
Responsibilities will include:
- Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Instrument & Controls system engineering, providing guidance and advice on related issues.
- Participate in Control System Design reviews.
- Develop and approve specifications of process control equipment including valves, relief valves, process instrumentation, analytical systems, and DCS/SIS & PLC.
- Providing Project Engineering support for distributed control systems and safety instrumented systems Coordination with external teams and internal team management.
- Represent Company in Factory Acceptance Testing of Process Automation equipment (DCS, Analyzers, plant equipment control systems) Works closely with subcontract DCS/SIS engineers and designers to coordinate their activities and to ensure the subcontractor's work is checked and the standards and quality are in accordance within standards, guidelines, and company requirements.
- Participate in SIS validation (new installation and modification) activities and coordinate required support resources.
- Assisting with design, construction support/supervision and startup assistance for instrumentation and control systems.
- Performs periodic design reviews; ensures designs, including all SIS engineering drawings, technical specifications, calculations, and programs, follow specifications, codes, regulations, and contract requirements. Ensures technical and quality standards are maintained.
- Assist the Lead in employing cost competitive engineering techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work.
- Supports function tests, PSAT, FAT, PSSR and startup activities and ensures proper documentation and data integrity of function testing, FAT, PSAT, red-lines, etc.
- Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution.
- Lead the prompt resolution of control system performance issues.
- Ensures proper documentation and data integrity of SIS validations (new and modification).
- Supports training of Ops, Maintenance and Technical personnel in regard to new or modified SIS.
