Design Engineer (SD WAN)

About the Role

As a SD-WAN Network Design Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering team responsible for the design and delivery of complex SD-WAN and SASE solutions to our customers. You will also be expected to provide an escalation path to assists are team of SD-WAN Network Engineers with complex issues. The role will also combine a R&D element in which you will be expected to test new features and functionality being brought to the market.

We are looking for, a team player with a passion for network automation who is willing to help us achieve our goal of building the world's most intelligent internet platform.

Responsibilities

• To assist the sales team with any presale's technical questions
• To be the Technical Design Authority during the delivery of customer projects
• To be an escalation point, for complex incidents
• To produce technical documentation for both customer and internal use
• To complete R&D testing on new technologies, features and vendors
• To work with our platform team on our Service and Network Automation efforts.

Experience and soft skills:

• A strong ability to translate functional requirements into technical solutions
• Previous experience in delivering complex network solutions using technologies such as SD-WAN, SSE and ZTNA.
• Good presentation and communication skills to interface between technical and non-technical teams.
• A proven track record as a problem solver who can demonstrate independent thinking, owning a complex issue, managing stakeholders and seeing it through to a successful resolution

Technical skills:

• A deep understanding of networking principles and protocols including but not limited to BGP, OSPF, IPv4, IPv6, IPsec, GRE
• A deep understanding of the higher-level protocols including but not limited to DNS, SSL, TCP/UDP
• A Strong working knowledge of SD-WAN technologies, such as Velocloud, Cato and Meraki preferred, but good conceptual knowledge is preferred over vendor specific
• Strong working knowledge of ZTNA and SSE technologies, such as Zscaler, Cato and Netskope preferred, but again conceptual knowledge preferred over vendor specific
• Experience in cloud networking and virtualisation technologies
• Experience working with Rest API and scripting.

Nice to have:

• A working knowledge of Grafana, influxDB and similar technologies
• An understanding of CICD pipeline and able to contribute to new features in our Service and Automation Platforms.
• A good knowledge of Network and Security market and awareness of current market trends.
