Responsible for assessing patient's nutritional needs and establishing nutritional strategies to meet identified medical nutrition therapy needs.
With Experience in management of different health conditions included neurodevelopment disorders like autism and down syndrome

Identifies change and develops nutritional practice for the department, clinics, and inpatient services

Adept with computer programs utilized for facility and department where appropriate
Supervising junior staff and ensuring their compliance to department and facility policies and procedures
May be responsible in maintaining sufficient inventory of nutrition consumable items, general material management and equipment required for patient care and performance of duties
CLINICAL DUTIES/ MEDICAL NUTRITION THERAPY
Involved in updating nutrition standards of care and procedures for the facility departments and promotes evidence based practice
Appropriately screen, assess, develop nutrition diagnosis, provide nutrition intervention, counsel, monitor and evaluate patients/clients utilizing an evidenced based nutrition care plan across all age specific groups and medical nutrition therapy groups
Conducts recipe analysis, menu development, food service productivity, food storage, food safety, food preferences and ethnic food patterns, where appropriate
Undertaking comprehensive patient assessment, dietary review and nutritional assessment. Assessment will include consideration of nutrition diagnoses, prognoses, anthropometry, biochemistry, pharmacology and medical history of complex patients/clients. Set a plan of care which integrates intervention, nutrition monitoring and evaluation with other treatment plans for the patient in all care settings
Responsible for advising staff, families and patients on the appropriate use of nutrition consumable items, feeds, supplements and dietary resources
Refers patients to senior dietetic staff appropriately in patient care, policy development and when serving on interdepartmental committees
Interpretation of medical history and diagnosis, biochemistry and anthropometry from medical case notes and ward assessments
Assessing of nutritional status by diet history from talking with patients/carers and evaluation of monitoring charts and feedback from nurses
Calculation of nutritional requirements, developing evidence based nutritional care plans, negotiation of client centered goals with patient
Liaising with ward and food service management and staff concerning nutritional care plan, goals and dietary requirements of inpatients on a daily basis
May instruct cooks on preparation of therapeutic diets, ordering appropriate menus and additional/alternative food products for individual patients
Assisting patients to meet nutritional requirements utilizing motivational support
Communicating complex sensitive information in an understandable form to patients, carers, medical, nursing and food service using negotiation, counseling and behavioral change skills. This will frequently involve clients/carers who have complex emotional, physical and psychological problems
Communicating goals and progress of nutritional care plan to referring health care professionals by writing in medical case notes, file where applicable, letter to medical practitioner or verbal communication
Plan and organize provision of feed and equipment for patients being discharged on enteral (tube) feeding. May liaise with contracting company nurse and health specialist dietitians to organise training and follow up care
May collect anthropometric measurements and interpret as part of nutrition assessment and monitoring as part of nutrition care plan
Prepare,complete and maintain clinical nutrition records, inclusive of assessments, interventions and evaluations in facility medical record
Calculating patient's needs for enteral nutrition and determining optimal formulas
Planning and recommending nutrition interventions that are individualized according to cultural and social influences
Monitoring effectiveness of planned interventions
Writing or altering medical nutrition care plan based on individual patient needs and inclusive of the diet patterns
Calculating, evaluating and monitoring nutrient intake
QUALITY AND SAFETY
Ensuring that standards of practice (SOP) and quality assurance practices are maintained
Demonstrates accountability for the proper use of patients protected health information
Collecting data for research and evaluating studies related to nutrition, when applicable
Being an active member of a nutrition practice group for the areas of work concentration and applying group principles
Participating in accreditation activities. Identifying opportunities for improvement
Promoting and maintaining quality in all services and ensure continuous quality improvement measures are in place
Conduct method evaluation/development as per standard policies and procedures
Accurately recording data in departmental statistics of patient care and when appropriate clinical food service monitoring
Utilizing approved nutrition reference materials and an evidence analysis library
Complying with all safety, health and quality control programs and procedures as applicable
Complying with applicable precautions for environmental safety, infection control, using a series of interventions that minimize or prevent cross infection
Maintaining the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded
Practicing within the expressed limits of established policies and procedures and approved competencies
Communicating in a professional and courteous manner with patients, family and other medical personnel as necessary to obtain information for nutrition diagnosis, nutrition assessment, intervention, monitoring and evaluation to explain procedures, clarify orders and communicate status
Research study designs, statistic identification and evaluation, able to conduct outcomes interpretations inclusive of limitations and applying research in applications, where appropriate
Facilitating change in nutritional practices for the department, clinics, and inpatient services

EDUCATION
Completing required continuing professional education for licensing with additional CPE in area of practice as per departmental policy
Annually researching, planning, obtaining permission for and delivering training and education projects and materials for clients, patients, health care providers and staff
Researching, developing, obtaining permission for and implementing individualized care in nutrition counseling, inclusive of learner assessment techniques, setting learner objectives, selecting and developing appropriate education material and evaluating learner outcomes
Researching, developing, obtaining permission for and select teaching material for nutrition education class/sessions by setting appropriate objectives for population and assessing outcomes, where appropriate
Able to establish rapport with clients/patients or groups when conducting nutrition education in an environment that enhances nutrition education outcomes
Being an active member of a nutrition practice group for the areas of work concentration and applying group principles
Planning and delivering training and education sessions for facility and department staff
Acting as a preceptor of dietetics or other students. Instructing and training dietetic interns, when applicable
Developing and presenting seminars or lectures for health professionals or students
Participating in departmental education projects and presentations annually
Writing, preparing and reviewing new nutrition education material
Utilizing varied techniques to educate patients regarding nutrition goals
Collecting data for research and evaluating studies related to nutrition, when applicable
Being an active member of a nutrition practice group for the areas of work concentration
Required:
QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc degree in Nutrition & Dietetics from an accredited
program
- AND Current National license
Desired:
MSc in relevant clinical field (will reduce 1 year from the

- Active member of a nutrition society or Association
Experience Required in addition to the Qualifications mentioned above (Relevant to the Job)
Required:
NLT 2 years experience as clinical dietitian in an acute care facility;
- UAE National: upon completion of Internship.
