Job Description
Director of Aquatics
The Director of Aquatics plays a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of the waterpark's aquatic operations. This includes overseeing lifeguard staff, water quality, maintenance, and emergency response procedures. The Director of Aquatics plays a key role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for waterpark visitors.
- Recruit, hire, train, and schedule lifeguard managers and teams.
- Conduct regular lifeguard training sessions and drills.
- Maintain lifeguard certification records.
- Monitor lifeguard performance and provide feedback as needed.
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Ensure lifeguards are trained in CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of all aquatic areas.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents promptly and effectively.
- Oversee water treatment systems to maintain proper water quality and chemical balance.
- Conduct regular water testing and adjust chemical levels as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations related to water quality.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of aquatic equipment, such as pumps, filters, and slides.
- Inspect and maintain pool decks, water features, and attractions for safety and cleanliness.
- Ensure all safety signage is clear and up to date.
- Provide excellent customer service to park visitors, addressing concerns and inquiries.
- Monitor guest behavior to ensure adherence to safety rules and park policies.
- Assist in the development of guest programs and activities.
- Prepare and manage the aquatics department budget.
- Monitor expenses and make cost-effective decisions to optimize department operations.
- Procure necessary supplies and equipment within budgetary constraints.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Aquatics, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is required.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred.
- Previous experience in aquatics management, with demonstrated leadership skills for at least 6 years in a similar capacity.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of aquatic safety regulations and best practices.
