The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) has multiple vacancies for chief of division. The AMF is an Arab financial institution based in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, and its membership includes all Arab countries.

The AMF provides financing and policy advice to member countries to deal with emerging and protracted financing needs and economic policy issues. It also provides capacity building to member countries. The AMF also undertakes the work of the technical secretariat of the Council of Governors of Central Banks and Arab Monetary Institutions and the committees and work teams emanating from it, and the technical secretariat of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers.
Successful candidates are expected to:
- Lead country diagnostic, program design and review missions,
- Oversee the collection and analysis of economic and financial data,
- Identify and coordinate the development of meaningful economic and econometric indicators, tools, and models, to produce national and regional economic forecasts and to support policymaking,
- Guide and mentor associate economists and senior economists,
- Contribute to capacity building activities through trainings, workshops, and technical assistance,
- Contribute to the various work streams of the institution, including the AMF's analytical and research work on core and emerging global themes.
- Manage a team of economist and senior economists and have the capacity to meet tight deadlines.
Minimum requirements:
- Applicants must be citizens of Arab countries
- PhD or master's degree in economics, or related fields, from a reputable university
- Minimum (10) years of relevant professional experience at a Central Bank, Ministry of Economy or Finance, or international or regional financial institutions.
The successful candidate should have demonstrated expertise and hands-on experience in one of the following areas:
- Fiscal policies and management, including macro-fiscal policy, tax and customs policy and administration, public financial management including expenditure policy and administration, public investment management, and cash and debt management.
- Macroprudential, monetary and exchange rate policies, including central banking and financial system policies, operations, and stability, financial market development, debt management and debt markets, and sovereign wealth funds.
- Demonstrated sound policy judgment and critical thinking, interpersonal skills and team spirit are required.
- Strong oral and written communication in Arabic and English and coordination skills are also essential. Proficiency in French would be an advantage.
- The candidates should have strong technical background and proficiency in the use of analytical, statistical and econometric software packages such as STATA, EViews, R, MATLAB and SAS. They are expected to maintain effective and cooperative relations with national authorities and development partners at a senior level.
