Job Description

Who are we

LOD (Lawyers On Demand) is an original New Law pioneer. We've transformed the way in which lawyers, consultants, and commercial teams work, and we're one of the largest and fastest growing flexible legal services businesses globally. Our mission is to help in-house legal teams succeed by creating smarter ways of working.

Who are we looking for

We are currently searching for Employment Legal Consultants (available on a fixed-term contract for at least 6 months working 5 days a week) with specific expertise in Employment Legal matters (in particular on the distinction between employee and independent contractor (IC)).

Summary of key requirements:

  1. Level - Mid-Senior associate level or above who is confident to manage tasks independently and requires very little supervision with specialist Employment Legal experience (including on the distinction between employee and IC).
  2. Time - To start from 1 July 2024 and ideally 5 days per week for 6 months with the possibility to extend if needed.
  3. Scope of role - The Consultant would work on not just local work, but it will include work across EMEA (although mostly focused on MEA). The work would be mostly business focused (i.e. on the protection of our IC model) but it could also include some internal HR employment legal work.
  4. Remote/in-office working - Consultant to work 50% from the local Client's office where they are based including on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the other days remotely.

What the secondee will need

  • 5+ years of employment law experience at a top tier firm. International employment law experience or in-house experience are a plus.
  • Capability of running multiple projects independently with little input. The Consultant should be at least Mid-Senior Associate level or above.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Strong academic credentials and law degree from a recognised law school.
  • Possess excellent business judgment, communication, drafting and interpersonal skills.
  • Substantive knowledge and expertise in Employment Legal matters.
