Having an advanced understanding/knowledge of all lighting equipment and keeping up to date with latest fixtures and technology within the industry. Learning new equipment quickly and teaching the team how to operate, hang and inspect them properly
Leading by example and maintaining a consistent performance at all times
Interacting directly with clients on site in a customer-oriented manner
Running shows of all sizes, both operation and site management, and leading a team of Technicians and Crew on site
Running a project and team at department level in the absence of a Project Manager
Assisting Project Managers in planning for projects and the specification of equipment
Providing a good level of support to the HOD
Notifying Head of Department of all defect fixtures
Cleaning, testing, maintaining, prepping and repairing equipment prior to job
Monitoring and repairing equipment during shows and any required fault finding
Identifying and correcting equipment failures according to set standards
Performing repairs up to and including high-end equipment depending on severity of issue
Building and installing equipment on site unsupervised, according to designated layout
Setting up and operating systems/equipment
Loading and unloading of equipment
Cleaning of equipment after shows and storing properly
Rigging and de-rigging of all equipment safely
Performing annual inventory of eclipse equipment as per the set procedures in place
Adhering to health and safety regulations and wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
Reporting all health and safety issues to the Group HSE Manager
Respecting and adhering to company policies, rules and procedures
Miscellaneous tasks within your scope of work, as assigned by the direct supervisor
Required Skills:
Advanced knowledge of the production and event industry
5 years of Technical experience in Lighting
Advanced knowledge of all lighting equipment in the department, and the ability to provide technical advice
Ability to read and understand technical plans
Proven leadership qualities with years of practical experience (including running shows of all sizes, and managing a small team of technicians in the set-up and operation of small to large scale events)
Problem solving skills
Advanced fault finding skills
Ability to assist the Head of Department when scheduling the preparation of jobs
Competent in using MS Office (namely Word and Excel)
