Title: Engineer, Power III

Job Description:
The Engineer, Power plans directs and controls the electrical power generation and the electrical reticulation activities to maximize cost-effectiveness. Ensures the quality of the total electrical generation and reticulation systems with the aim of maximizing employee and equipment safety and minimizing the operational cost of the system. Responsible for electrical generation and reticulation systems including standards and specification design, design review, system development and project completion. The incumbent is also responsible for the required interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the availability of the appropriate mix of plant resources e.g. inputs, equipment, personnel and utilities in order to deliver high-quality and reliable outputs from the Power Generation and Utilities plant in a safe working environment.
- Interact with other managers to ensure that the overall site energy balance is optimized.
- Coordinate with the PMC for the purpose of material selection, control functionality, operability, maintainability and overall layout and flow sheet optimization.
- Set the scope of the Plant production in order to clearly define the Power generation and utility plant objectives and parameters of performance outputs.
- Assist the main plant's process engineers to ensure that their plant's electrical needs are met.
- Determine the optimum power management system to be utilized at the Maaden chemical complex.
- Ensure the integration of electrical systems to process control, mechanical, security, fire detection and prevention and MIS systems and equipment.
- Ensure that all electrical control designs provide for maximized employee and equipment safety.
- Review and approve plant design and EPC, EPCM, and EPI deliverables.
- Participate in Value Engineering and optimization studies in order to reduce plant operating costs and run the plant at optimal conditions.
- Assist the Production team and PMC in commissioning and start-up planning and execution.
- Design performance testing criteria and procedures.
- Establish performance criteria to set benchmarks and standards for measuring and monitoring plant performance.
- Develop operational readiness checklists and procedures to support the Production Team in securing resources, inputs, and training and ensure status preparation.
- Function as the Maaden representative for handover and acceptance testing.
Qualification & Experience:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Min. 2 years of experience in power generation or utility plants in an industrial environment, with 2 of those years in a managerial role in Power operations
- Familiar with Computerized power management systems.
- Familiar with Computerized process control systems and experienced in the use thereof.

- Extensive computer skills in using Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) plus other software pertinent to the work performed would be advantageous.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and foster a cooperative team environment.
- Bi-lingual or multi-lingual is a plus.
- International work experience in a remote camp environment.
