Engineer, Project

JOB PURPOSE:

Acting as the overall project coordinator for engineering activities, internal and external, on the project. In this capacity, the Project Engineer is responsible for the successful engineering coordination of the Project Design or Project Implementation activities in line with the Projects goals and in accordance with the Projects Functional procedures and applicable standards.

RESPONSIBILITES:

1. Fully understands the engineering scope of work for the project and monitors the engineering activity to ensure project requirements are met
2. Coordinates internal and external engineering activities and the interdisciplinary interfaces in close coordination with the discipline engineers and/or contractors
3. Ensures engineering requirements are properly incorporated in the engineering deliverables.
4. Communicates with engineers, cost estimators, internal stakeholders, contractors etc. to define project performance requirements
5. Coordinate and review engineering development, either in-house or external, to ensure clarity of scope of work and alignment of specifications and deliverables with engineering requirements
6. Coordinates the creation of relevant document to support Project Stage deliverables up to the Final Investment Decision (FID) or from FID through to Project Close Out
7. Responsible for the coordination of the project specific design reviews
8. Accountable for developing the Project overall plan
9. Reports on the Project progress in relation to the engineering scope in terms of requirements, quality and schedule
10. Identify gaps, provide analysis and develop options on impact to closing any project engineering requirements
11. Supports the Project budgeting and forecasting process for the engineering disciplines
12. Works closely with the QA/QC team to ensure engineering adherence to the Quality Assurance and Control program for conformance to the project requirements
13. Supports the resolution of QA/QC non-conformities
14. Support internal and external technical reviews
15. Provide a liaison service between engineering, construction and commissioning
16. Support, where appropriate, plant design and constructability reviews
17. Support the creation of procurement and contracting strategies
18. Support technical negotiations and bid technical evaluation for packages and other high value equipment
19. Support in Capitalization of power and water utility asset created by 3rd party
20. Recommend improvements to departmental procedure and direct the implementation of instructions and controls covering a specific area of any project activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
21. Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls within a defined area of project activity to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.

Minimum Qualification:

1. BSc University Degree in Electrical or Mechanical
2. Desirable, but not essential, Chartered Engineer with recognized professional institute (i.e. CEng, PEng, CP Eng.)

Minimum Experience:

4 years of Engineering design / project experience in an Industrial Engineering, Construction or Process related industry
