S-Chem is seeking a skilled Engineering Coordinator to play a crucial role in overseeing engineering activities of projects within its Project Engineering Department. In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing the efforts of engineering contractors to ensure the successful and timely completion of the engineering work of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance: Rigorously adhere to and enforce company safety rules and regulations. Champion a proactive safety philosophy, serving as a positive safety role model for the contractors engineering team.
- Engineering Activity Coordination: Provide strategic oversight and coordination of engineering activities for projects within the project engineering department. Collaborate closely with engineering contractors and internal stakeholders, overseeing and facilitating their work to ensure timely and quality project delivery.
- Implementation of CPDEP During Engineering: Serve as the distinguished face of the company in interactions with engineering contractors. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the Chevron Project Development and Execution Process (CPDEP), guiding contractors through its engineering requirements for different phases for efficient project delivery. Provide expert guidance to project engineers and contractors, assisting in navigating CPDEP phases.
- Ensure Compliance with Engineering Standards: Help the engineering contractor and the project engineers identify the applicable CPChem Engineering Standards (CPChemES) and industry standards to ensure compliance during the engineering of projects and facilitate approval of variances as needed.
- Schedule Monitoring and Issue Resolution: Proactively monitor engineering schedules, identify potential bottlenecks, and actively engage in resolution efforts. Maintain a dynamic register of engineering issues, coordinating swift resolutions with project engineers and contractors.
- Issue Follow-Up and Resolution: Conduct thorough follow-ups on engineering issues, ensuring they are addressed promptly and efficiently to maintain project momentum and engineering contractor performance. Collaborate closely with the project team and contractors to implement sustainable solutions, actively participating in root cause analyses to prevent issue reoccurrence.
- Technical Information Facilitation: Coordinate the efficient exchange of technical information between engineering contractors and the project engineering team.
- Engineering Deliverable Coordination: Coordinate and facilitate the efficient exchange of technical information between engineering contractors and the project engineering team, fostering a collaborative project environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and procedures, identifying and championing opportunities for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to ensure the alignment of engineering activities with broader project goals, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment within the project engineering department.
- Project Updates and Reporting: Deliver transparent and comprehensive project updates to project engineers, engineering managers, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication channels are established.
- Interorganizational Liaison: Act as a pivotal liaison between the company and the contractor, cultivating robust channels of communication and collaboration to enhance overall project efficiency.
- Strategic Management of Contractors: Strategically balance the work assignments to the contractors so that a core group of contractors and their staff is maintained for S-Chem needs.
- Contractual Compliance: Ensure that the engineering contractors comply with the contractual requirements and check the invoices and timesheets for accuracy. Moreover, responsible for managing the General Engineering Services contracts for S-Chem.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in the mechanical or chemical engineering.
- Minimum ten years of proven experience in project engineering management and coordination within the petrochemical industry and/or renowned engineering firms.
- Excellent understanding of different engineering codes, standards, practices, and guidelines used in industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
