MAJOR FUNCTIONS
- Development, coordination and management of technical and engineering scope through all phases of the project life cycle
- Management of contractors and consultants in the execution of engineering activities and the timely completion of these activities to protect Company interests
- Ensure work deliverables are consistent with industry standards and in accordance with good engineering practice and applicable codes
- Responsible for ensuring that all technical requirements for projects are implemented
- To implement procedures, plans and schedules for execution of the engineering work scope associated projects.
- Interface management across all engineering disciplines
- To ensure quality of engineering deliverables in accordance with project contractual requirements.
- Design assurance, quality control, checking and design reviews of all engineering deliverables.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Development of key documents directing engineering strategy and implementation
- Develop and review technical specifications
- Ensure that the project engineering activities are executed in accordance with approved procedures.
- Ensure satisfactory engineering procedures are developed, implemented and closed-out throughout the project.
- Have a full knowledge and understanding of the Contract conditions and cost and schedule requirements.
- Stimulates challenges and supports Contractors and consultants to strive for easy/simple solutions and to avoid unnecessary delays to the schedule.
- To ensure the effective liaison and co-ordination by EPC Contractor between engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities during System Completion Phase.
Duties
- Ensure that all tasks assigned by the Project Manager/Director are completed on time and within budget.
- Keep up to date with and adhere to Company and Project related procedures
- Ensure that Contractor follows the technical specifications, regulations and rules according to the Contract.
- Check and approve as appropriate all deviations and non-conformance from project specifications
- Maintain CR and TQ registers.
- Ensure that technical interface discrepancies are resolved.
- Direct and manage the Company engineering personal and consultants to perform their work effectively, efficiently with focus on documents review and approval.
- Monitor and appraise Contractor's engineering performance.
- Propose corrective action to any negative development with regard to safety, quality, time and cost.
- Communicate any negative development as soon as it is uncovered to Company Management
- Assist in validation of any Variation, Order Request and progress assessments.
- Attend internal/external Project review, progress and other meetings, as necessary, including those with EPC Contractor and others.
- Formulate technical responses to the EPC Contractor's correspondence.
- When required assist EPC Contractor in its interface management with third parties and external interconnections.
- Actively participate in audits of the EPC Contractor.
- Assist in technical evaluation of Vendors/suppliers/sub-contractors.
- Liaise with procurement with respect to purchase orders/material requirements.
- Liaise with Contracts personnel and coordinate changes that require schedule and/or cost input from start to finish so that an auditable trial is available.
