Estimator Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced Civil Estimating Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost estimating for large-scale construction projects in the civil engineering sector, including infrastructure, buildings, roads, bridges and utilities. The Estimating Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing bids and supporting project teams in managing budgets and controlling project costs throughout the lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately estimate costs for civil engineering projects, covering materials, labor, equipment, and overheads for infrastructure projects, buildings, roads, bridges, utilities, etc.

Analyze and interpret project plans, specifications, and technical drawings to understand scope and requirements for estimating project costs.

Evaluate bids from subcontractors, suppliers, and contractors, ensuring cost estimates align with project specifications and the company's budget requirements.

Communicate with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing information, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.

Provide detailed breakdowns of project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. Assist in creating cost reports to track expenses and manage budgets. Continuously monitor costs during the execution phase of the project, identify potential cost overruns, and suggest corrective actions to keep projects within budget.

Implement cost control measures, evaluate project scope changes, and adjust cost estimates as necessary to reflect variations in design, materials, or labor.

Work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed within budget and according to the timeline.

Identify potential cost risks and provide mitigation strategies to avoid unforeseen financial challenges during the project lifecycle.

Keep detailed and accurate records of estimates, revisions, and relevant correspondence to ensure transparency and traceability.

Qualifications and Certification:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.

Experience: 5-10 years of professional cost estimating experience in the construction sector, with proven experience in cost estimating for multi million-dollar civil engineering projects.

Proficient in cost estimation software (e.g., Cost, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel).

In-depth knowledge of construction methods, civil engineering practices, and industry standards. Familiarity with project management and cost control systems.

Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP or similar) is a plus.
