The EV Charging Technician is responsible for on-site tasks related to the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of electric vehicle charging networks and infrastructure. This role involves both field and office work, with a strong emphasis on electrical on-site tasks. The technician ensures the smooth operation of EV charging systems by utilizing a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles. This position requires hands-on technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to sustainable transportation. The EV Charging Technician will report to the Head of the EV Unit.
Core Responsibilities:
- Installation: Set up new EV charging stations according to technical specifications and safety standards. This includes electrical wiring, station setup, and integration with existing electrical systems.
- Follow-up: Conduct routine checks on EV charging stations to ensure they function efficiently and safely. Maintain the health of EV chargers installed by CLIENTS, and develop routine follow-up plans for all stations.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to customers, facility managers, and other stakeholders regarding the use and maintenance of charging stations.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of installation projects, maintenance work, and repair activities.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all work complies with national and local electrical codes and safety standards. Promote electrical safety best practices among colleagues and customers. Ensure that all activities within the department comply with CLIENTS quality standards and HSE regulations.
- Knowledge: Stay updated on the latest technologies and best practices in electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Qualifications & Skills:
- A degree or diploma in electrical engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical installations, with a preference for EV charging station experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, electronic components, and software used in EV charging infrastructure.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in the field, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals. Collaboration with a team of technicians and customer service representatives is common.
- Willingness to travel to various sites and work in outdoor conditions.
- Valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
- The technician must safely use tools and equipment, work at different heights, and occasionally lift heavy objects. Expertise in using electrical testing tools (sensors, voltmeters, power analyzers, etc.) is required.
- Familiarity with safety precautions and proper use of PPE onsite is essential.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
