Job Description

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for reviewing and inspecting warranty claim parts, processing & validating warranty claims, repairing warranty parts where possible, checking, and verifying faulty inventory items and to run Service School training for dealers and contractors. Provides telephonic, in-field, and face-to-face technical support to dealers and customers on the entire Valmont product range. Sources, develops modifies, tests, and launches new product solutions to meet customer demands. Local and international in-field project delivery including installations, training, troubleshooting, and problem-solving on all Valmont products.

Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Demonstrate commitment to Valmont Safety Mission and immediately address any safety issues in the work area. Consult with Quality, Health & Safety Officer when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Establish good working relationships with the other departments and individuals within VISA & MEA.
  • Assist senior management at various levels of training to dealership and key account service personnel.
  • Establish effective communication links with dealership personnel and disseminate information through service bulletins and product updates.
  • Visit dealership premises and carry out audit on tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
  • Ensure dealerships are up to date with regards to software access, update, and service tools (laptops, serial cables, etc.).
  • Generate parts and service RFQs from customers or through dealerships.
  • Encourage dealerships to launch preventative maintenance programs.
  • Develop a working knowledge of Valmont Irrigation products.
  • Independently troubleshoot and diagnose faults in center pivots, linear, ancillaries & control technology products.
  • Provide telephonic, in-field, and face-to-face technical support to dealers, customers, and internal staff on the entire Valmont product range. Local and international in-field project delivery including installations, training, troubleshooting, and problem-solving on all Valmont products.
  • Design Service School training material and deliver training for dealers and contractors. Ensure that the Training Centre is set up for training (prepare manuals, equipment, housekeeping, training aids, etc.).
  • Help identify employee training needs for (Dealers, Service Installers, Internal Customers)
  • Source, develop, modify, test, and launch new product solutions to meet customer demands.
  • Reviewing and inspecting warranty claim parts, administrative processing and validating warranty claims, and repairing warranty parts where possible.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • Electrical/Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering Diploma.
  • Fluent in English & Arabic writing and speaking.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the relevant fields: automation/electronic controls, mechanical, or agriculture.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • +3 years experience in the electrical installation, mechanical erection, commissioning, and fault finding of center pivot systems.
  • Expertise in influence, team participation, consensus building, and dealer/customer/grower communication.
  • The ability to establish and cultivate excellent working relationships with dealers and customers.
  • Demonstrated abilities with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Experience in AutoCAD drawing will be preferred.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically performed in an office and field setting; however, the incumbent needs to be able to move about the office, production area, shipping warehouse, dealerships, and international site facilities as assigned. The incumbent has to be able to support Sales, Marketing, Service, Engineering, and Operations. This support includes visits to both indoor and outdoor locations during all seasons of the year. The Field Service Engineer must be willing and able to travel both locally and to the field approximately up to 50% of the year and, in uncommon instances, at short notice. The work environment can be fast-paced and demanding especially during peak sales seasons. Although some of the administrative tasks are repetitive and may seem mundane, the job has new challenges every day.

Physical Efforts:

Most of the tasks are sedentary tasks. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The incumbent is occasionally required to move around and use hands to type, handle, feel, grasp, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, taste, or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30kg. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The incumbent must be able to climb up to an elevated height, such as from a ladder or center pivot, linear irrigation systems structure (i.e., center, or span structure), and have the ability to climb stairs as some areas of the plant and dealer's offices can only be accessed by climbing a flight of stairs. There are trips to grower's fields and the employee needs to have the ability to move about the crop area. The employee needs to be able to get him/herself to and from different sites using a vehicle or an airplane.
