Job Description
The Department of Arts and Graphic Design invites applications for a faculty position in Graphic & Communication Design. The ideal candidate will hold a terminal degree (MFA) in graphic design, typography, or a related field and have significant experience teaching Graphic and Communication Design, with deep knowledge and expertise in Arabic typography. A thorough understanding of contemporary design practices and history/theory is required, along with excellent communication skills. Research interests in graphic design, bilingual communication/design, Arabic typography, sustainable design, packaging design, interdisciplinary design education, and global practice are highly desirable. In addition to teaching various levels of graphic design courses, the candidate should demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: Arabic calligraphy, Arabic type design, bilingual design (Arabic/English), branding, design foundations, design systems, digital design, environmental design, and 3D design. Applicants must submit an application portfolio that includes 1520 examples each of professional and student work, accompanied by descriptions.
Qualifications
- Terminal degree (MFA) in graphic design, typography, or related field.
- University-level teaching experience in Graphic and Communication Design, with expertise in Arabic typography.
- Research interests in areas like bilingual communication, sustainable and packaging design, and global practices in graphic design.
