Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Site and Equipment Management: Inspect proposed construction sites, ensuring proper setup of test equipment and drilling machinery to collect accurate soil and rock samples.
  • Logistics Coordination: Oversee field logistics such as site accessibility, water supply, and the sequence of drilling activities.
  • Field Supervision: Ensure workers safety and oversee drilling, sampling, and sample handling for accurate data collection and efficient transportation to the laboratory.
  • Testing and Analysis: Examine, prepare, and perform physical tests on samples, ensuring precision in calculations and results. Assist in preparing comprehensive geotechnical analysis and final test reports.
  • Quality Assurance: Review final test reports, ensure adherence to quality standards, and maintain a tidy workplace in the testing area.
  • Data Accuracy and Reporting: Spot-check data for errors, prepare borehole logs, cross-sections, and general layout for factual reports.
  • Equipment Calibration: Follow up on calibration and maintenance of testing equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with Geotechnical Engineers to organize testing activities and provide timely, accurate services.
  • Integrity and Innovation: Uphold the integrity and accuracy of field and lab tests while contributing to the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System within the Geotechnical Division.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related scientific discipline from a recognized university (4-year program).

Language Proficiency:

  • Arabic: Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • English: Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • French: is a plus

Core Skills:

  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical documents, and governmental regulations.
  • Proficient in drafting reports and business correspondence.
  • Adept at managing tasks efficiently under pressure.

Technical Competencies:

  • Skilled in using internet software, email applications, and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with inventory and database management systems is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to relocate to Africa to support operations and contribute to projects in the region.
