JOB PURPOSE:
The Chief Accountant will play a pivotal role in steering the financial health and strategy of a consortium of SMEs. This position is tasked with overseeing financial operations, budgeting, and forecasting, ensuring compliance with financial regulations within the UAE, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth and sustainability. The role demands a proactive approach to managing financial risks, optimising financial performance, and driving efficiency across the consortium, thereby contributing to the overall success and development of these SMEs in a dynamic economic landscape.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Chief Accountant will primarily be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Oversee accounting operations, ensuring adherence to principles, standards, and compliance with all regulations.
- Develop and present financial statements, reports, and forecasts, analysing business performance.
- Streamline budget preparation and analysis, supporting financial planning.
- Craft short-term and long-term business plans to guide strategic decisions.
- Implement and refine financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and performance.
- Manage income, cash flow, and expenditures to maintain financial health.
- Administration of all financial related documentation within company SharePoint.
- Guarantee financial regulatory & legislative compliance & identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with auditors for accurate financial monitoring and reporting.
- Deliver precise financial insights to executives and stakeholders, facilitating informed decisions.
- Oversee tax planning and compliance to minimise liabilities and ensure accuracy.
- Mentor and lead finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Monitor and analyse market trends and the competitive landscape to inform financial strategies.
Technical Competencies:
- Proficient in financial management and accounting principles
- Expertise in financial software applications i.e. QuickBooks
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation abilities
- Skilled in strategic financial planning and analysis
- Adept at stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration
- Capable of leading/ co-ordinating financial audits and compliance initiatives
- Proficient in risk management and financial forecasting techniques

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics preferred.
- Professional Accounting qualification: (Chartered Accountant - CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CPA or similar.)
EXPERIENCE
- +5 years of experience within a similar Finance role
- +5 years min UAE experience preferred.
