Job Purpose:
- To lead our DCM business & grow it into a sustainable fee-generating business.
- Responsible for identifying, originating, winning and closing opportunities in the DCM space for the Bank's entire client base
- Strategize about how to innovatively position Mashreq's DCM platform to win business in its focus markets/ with core clients
Key Result Areas:
- Originate DCM (Bonds / Sukuk) opportunities, in a leading role, in conjunction with the relationship team.
- Actively draw up a pipeline of regional potential DCM issuers (new as well as repeat)
- Determine a cohesive pitching strategy for DCM mandates across capital structure
- Building and managing a team of 3-5 resources to support in the above objectives.
- Have in-depth knowledge of the pricing dynamics governing a primary issuance
- Solid understanding of performance of regional issuances in secondary markets.
- A broad understanding of the macroeconomic fundamentals of key markets is key.
- Possess active working relationships with other active DCM arrangers and ensure that we have full visibility of regional deal pipeline at all times.
- Assume overall responsibility for issuance execution by DCM team, including:
1- Produce high quality offering memoranda for circulation in the private or public market.
2- Negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, risk management for any underwriting commitments, not limited to legal counsels.
3- Manage and oversee the responsibilities of a syndicate while a capital market issuance is under execution
4- Strictly adhering to client timelines.
- Maintain dialogue with Mashreq's Funding Centre to raise / place liquidity via DCM instruments
- Coordinate with TCM for increasing their distribution capabilities and investor base, including to the private bank as well the Funding Centre
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:
- A strong multi product investment banking skill set that covers the entire capital structure with predominant focus on raising capital in the debt market.
- The candidate should have successfully originated deals for regional capital market issuers in his/her DCM platform with the existing employer.
- Has working knowledge of global markets and the interplay between currencies, interest rates and commodities
- Advanced understanding of the important players in the regional market and has played a key role in the DCM platform for a leading bank.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills + highly developed presentation skills.
- A proactive and energetic personality with the ability and desire to multi task across both business development and execution areas.
- The candidate will have a minimum of 12-15 years experience spent with one or better known regional or global institution involved in similar nature of business
