Job Overview:

The Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health and safety policies and programs that ensure the well-being of all company drivers and employees. The role focuses on proactive health monitoring, compliance with legal regulations, risk assessment, and creating a culture of safety within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive health and safety programs for drivers and employees.
• Create training materials and conduct regular safety training sessions.
• Ensure compliance with UAE labor laws and industry standards for health and safety.
• Stay updated on relevant health and safety regulations and update company policies as needed.
• Organize regular health screenings and wellness programs for drivers.
• Implement mental health awareness, stress management, and physical wellness initiatives.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards and recommend preventive measures.
• Develop and implement risk assessment protocols and follow up on corrective actions.
• Investigate accidents/incidents, identify root causes, and propose preventive solutions.
• Maintain detailed reports of incidents and health data for trend analysis.
• Collaborate with HR, Fleet Management, and Operations for health initiatives.
• Liaise with external health professionals and regulatory bodies as needed.
• Develop and communicate health and safety policies, manuals, and guidelines.
• Ensure drivers understand and adhere to health and safety procedures.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans; organize drills and training.

The responsibilities are not limited to the above and may include additional tasks/projects as assigned by the line manager.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Public Health, or related field.

Experience: At least 10 years of experience in a health and safety role (transportation/logistics preferred).

Other qualifications:

• Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) preferred.
• Strong understanding of UAE health and safety regulations.
• Experience with wellness programs and health checks.
• Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge in Arabic, both written and verbal is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
